25.01.2022 To assist us in our endeavors to produce Tea Seed Oil from our Camellia sinensis (tea) plants, we are visiting Oshima Island, off the coast of Tokyo, Japan-a major Camellia Oil production area. The last of this season's Camellia seeds are now being hand collected and dehusked by the local residents then taken to the island's oil factories, where they are weighed and payment is made in Camellia oil or Yen. The seeds are cleaned, cold pressed and filtered to produce high quality Camellia Oil. #oshimaisland #tsubakioil #camelliaoil

22.01.2022 Had the opportunity to try some lovely Japanese teas from 'Takaki Farm' at Aki's tea shop 'Hoshinocha'. Finally decided on a packet of Fukamushi Sencha to bring back to Australia. Aki is a skilled tea farmer in Yame area of Kyusho, Japan, who produces some of Japan's best green tea. We visited one of his Gyokuro plantations-these tea bushes are covered with bamboo shading for three weeks before the buds are then hand harvested.
