24.01.2022 HERE WE COME! We are going on the road again! To all our lovely couples who asked us for family photo sessions before the dreaded C word, we are finally able to come visit you! We will be driving from Cairns to Victoria to see family over Christmas and we have room for just a couple more photo sessions on our road trip. We are taking a very roundabout journey so don't stress if you're not exactly on the way, just pm us and we will see if we can make it happen!... Due to time constraints (and wanted to spend as much time with family over Christmas as possible), places are very limited and will be between 18th December - 10th January. 21.01.2022 One of the things I love the most about being a photographer are the people I meet, and when I can show their personalities in the photographs it takes the images to a whole new level. I recently got to meet this beautiful family for a shoot at Palm Cove while they were visiting. It was pretty much a perfect afternoon on the beach, with us just wandering around looking for photographs and having a laugh.

21.01.2022 An overnight stay at one of our favourite getaways. We are so lucky to have this piece of paradise on our doorstep. Jules and I watched this epic sunset with a couple glasses of champagne and I quickly snapped this photo on my phone. Pretty amazing what you can do with a phone these days!

20.01.2022 2020. What a year. When 90% of our lovely couples had to sadly cancel or postpone their weddings this year, tbh, we were pretty scared about what was going to happen for our future. However hard times make you search for new ways to succeed and we decided to use the extra time to concentrate on family & maternity photography. And we are so happy with what we have created. It really seems that, like us, people are realising that digital images are just the beginning of t...he photography process and the response we've had towards our new artwork consult and design options have been incredible! 20.01.2022 NEW BLOG LINK: https://bit.ly/Georgia-and-mercedes Georgia & Mercedes didn't really have the perfect weather situation on their wedding day, with rain forecast and a venue named the Misty Mountains, I expected a wet kind of day!... However, the weather gods were kind and held off for the outdoor ceremony, until just literally until the signing. Then it was a mad race back under shelter to wait out the downpour! The next break in the weather we headed back outside to make the most of the dry (ish) spell. There were still a few rain drops around, but who cares about getting a bit wet when you can back light those raindrops to create a dreamy, romantic feel, just perfect for your wedding day? Thanks to Georgia & Mercedes for trusting me that rain really does make pretty photographs :) and not caring (too much) that their beautiful hair and dresses were getting a little soggy! 19.01.2022 Like most weddings this year, Kirsty & Jamie's wedding was not without its drama in the lead up due to CoVid. Family & friends who were not from QLD were lucky to be able to watch via a live stream put together by @threadless films. The people who were able to make it were treated to a beautiful day at Ellis beach while they witnessed the wedding under palm tree lined beach. It doesnt get much more tropical than that! This particular pho...tograph required me to take my shoes off and get past my knees into the water. You cant see it in this shot but there were quite a few waves coming in that I needed to keep an eye on, or else risk submerging my camera as I had to hold it so low to the water. The risk was well worth it with this photograph. I have no idea what they were talking about but Kirsty is finding it amusing:) . .. ... .... ..... ...... 18.01.2022 2020 has been a crazy year, as we all know. Most of our weddings have been postponed until 2021 but there were still quite a few that could still go ahead thankfully. I knew when I spoke with Jodie the first time that it was going to be a fun day, and when I met their wedding party, they certainly lived up to the expectation:) Castaways at Mission beach is a unique venue as it is located right on one of the most incredible beaches in North Queensland. As a... photographer it has so much potential and we didnt need to leave the venue at all to get some amazing photographs both on and off the beach. This was the very last photograph we took that night. I had spent some time during the evening trying to find somewhere different, somewhere that I had not shot before. The entrance to the restaurant was what stood out to me. 17.01.2022 I love night photography and the opportunity to use external light to create texture and different angles. Want to know how I achieved this result? Read on fellow camera nerds ;P ... I snuck Dan and Tracey out of their reception for a quick 10 min creative session. We found this awesome decorative screen in a dark park, but the lights behind it were a perfect second light source. I used the screen & lights as leading line and positioned D&T in the middle. I lit them with my off camera flash and shaped the light so it was only directed onto Dan & Tracey, rather than lighting up the whole area, using the MagGrip & MagGrid from @magnetmod Ps, any photographers out there who don't have these items in the toolkit, you need to get them asap! They're game changers. It's a hard choice to make, as we love all of them right now! Can I just say that Kelly and Paul have been an inspiration to Jules and I. Every time ...EVERY time we've spoken, they've been unfailingly upbeat about their plans. As we all know, planning a wedding in 2020 is a nightmare. 02.01.2022 When you're given the most picture perfect August weather, plus these guys to photograph then you know it's going to be a good day :) Perfect weather, an awesome group of fam and friends, and the most beautiful venue in Sapphire Ridge. 01.01.2022 We first met Lisa and Dan a few years ago when we photographed their wedding. Since then they've become friends, and we've helped them with photographs of some very big milestones including becoming a business owner and then the happiest milestone of all, the welcoming of their beautiful little girl Charlotte. This little bit of backstory is to help explain what we consider the very best part of what we do; getting to hang out and take photos with our couples when they celebrate the next chapters of their lives together. 01.01.2022 NEW BLOG POST* http://bit.ly/Port-D-elopement I knew from the first moment I spoke with Ryan and Laura that we were going to have a lot of fun. They reminded me of Jules & myself..but 20 years ago; a young couple traveling the world and loving life. And so totally in love with each other it was impossible not to be caught up in their excitement.So its no surprise that they had an incredible wedding day and to make it even better, they had incredible weather.... It was really tough to try to work out which photographs to include in this blog, as we had so many! I absolutely loved the way Laura and Ryan totally threw themselves into the moment and even with my crazy suggestions (I'm just going to lie on the ground over here..." or "BRB, I'm going to to climb that tree..."), they just laughed and went with the flow. I really feel that the energy and emotion that we created and captured is something that really shines through these images, and is a true testament to their personalities and utter happiness of the day. The very last photograph on this blog is a particular favourite. We were heading back to the cars to say goodbye when I looked behind me and saw this amazing gap in the trees that I had never noticed before. Just shows that even after 12 years of shooting in Port Douglas there are still so many possibilities that I have not discovered yet. Thank you Ryan & Laura for asking me to be your photographer and thank you to Anna Soltwedel, the amazing celebrant, for such a beautiful ceremony. 01.01.2022 We wanted to say a huge thank you to all our beautiful mummas and awesome dads for trusting us with their maternity and family memories this year. To be able to follow our couples journeys, from weddings to starting their own families, is something we feel very privileged to be asked to do. Our families become friends and we couldn't feel luckier to meet so many beautiful people.
