24.01.2022 Today at the Sports Medicine Australia symposium we learned a lot about pain and our perception of it We quite often make the assumption that pain reflects the amount of tissue damage we must have... this is not the case... Pain is actually a protective response to a PERCEIVED threat or danger to your body, not necessarily a real one... in this case example; this person had extreme 10/10 pain in his foot after standing on a nail.. only to find out it went between his toes and didnt go through any part of his foot #physio #painperception #painpathways #danger #threat #nociception @sports_medicine_australia

16.01.2022 Dear Patients, The Balaclava St. Kilda Physiotherapy Centre has been classified as a Tier 1B exposure site. This means the practice will be closed and that the all staff exposed must go into 14 day isolation until Friday 27th August. The exposure dates were Wednesday 11th August between 11.30am and 1.00pm and Friday 13th August 9.30am to 5.30pm.... With our QR code system and diary we have been able to isolate all the people who may have been exposed and the DHHS will be in contact with you. If you were at the practice at this time and have not heard from the DHHS please isolate and get tested ASAP and contact the DHHS on 1800675398. As per DHHS requirements the practice has undergone a comprehensive deep clean and has been approved for re-opening. Please note there will be no reception or physiotherapy staff at the practice. In addition he has indicated that they are now developing full allied health telehealth options within the week for allied health along with all other health and medical services.
