23.01.2022 We do love our Thoroughbreds here at BTES and here’s a great explanation as to why

23.01.2022 Great day yesterday at Millmerran Show. Rosie came back from her short spell and jumped around the 75cm and 90cm well with a few rails, but I was very happy with how she took the atmosphere so calmly. This mares best attribute is her attitude Major was again the superstar. Easily jumping double clear in the 90cm and getting a 2nd place in the 1m class, so we were in the money!! Major successful covered his classes and even covered dinner!! Such a super pony Looking forward to having the float full for Pittsworth Show next weekend

22.01.2022 Selling on behalf of owner: Offering for Sale: Moorse Skyesabove, aka Fred... Fred is an eye catching 16.1hh 13yr old registered buckskin quarter horse. He is from sprint bred quarter horse lines which is where his height comes from. With that extra height you get beautiful flowing and ground covering movement not seen in most quarter horses. Fred has done extensive time in feedlots, been to campdrafts and even done the odd dressage day and jump. This beautiful natured gentleman has lovely ground manners and very much enjoys being fussed over. His flat work is well established with good stops, rollbacks and walk to canter transitions. I believe Fred would make a lovely challenge horse or would suit someone looking to take up campdrafting. Would also be the ideal work horse for mustering and feedlot work. Owner is selling due to time restraints. Priced at $7000neg Located Toowoomba Fred is currently with a trainer in full work. For more information please feel free to contact me via message or give me a call on 0448800773.

21.01.2022 Beautiful Frankie (Sure Deal) went around his first ever 80cm today at Hatton Vale Pony Club Height day. He is shaping into a truly beautiful horse, nothing fazes this dude and is showing great form over fences John and Rosie cruised around the 70,80 and 90cm A very well run event with lots of lovely people, we look forward to attending your next open event, Hatton Vale Pony Club.

20.01.2022 If you are ever lacking motivation to work your horses just go to a show and DON’T ride! Spent a day at Aquis Champions Tour and am itching to ride the ponies tomorrow!!If you are ever lacking motivation to work your horses just go to a show and DON’T ride! 19.01.2022 Romeo is very sadly offered for sale due to drought. I had big plans to do a little bit of showing with him this year but unfortunately circumstances have changed. Romeo is a registered Type A Welsh Mountain Pony, standing at just under 12hh. Registered name is Petherton Park Plover. He is 3yrs old but don’t let the age fool you, he is an old soul. Was extremely easy to break in and his first ride was by our 13yr old daughter. Absolutely no buck, bolt, kick, bite or any kind ...of nasties. He walk, trots and canters under saddle and stops on voice command. Moves off leg well. Even popped him over a few small jumps. Iv been busy with my other horses so he has had a fair few weeks between rides but never gets girthy or tight. You can pretty much just jump on and ride off. Can be ridden in halter and bareback in paddock. His great to tie up with young horses at shows and keeps them calm (iv been using him as a babysitter quiet a bit). Loads easily on the float and travels like a dream. His beautiful kind and willing nature will make him the ultimate child’s pony one day when he has a little more experience in the big wide world. A competent teenager would be able to handle him easily and further his education if they are looking for a project pony. This is a very sad sale as I do love this little guy and I will only be letting him go to the most loving of homes. Located just outside of Toowoomba. Priced at $3000neg. For more information please message me or contact me on 0448800773.

18.01.2022 Our only female OTT at the moment, Rosie, showing us how it’s done through the grid exercise this afternoon. Textbook perfect!! #BTES#loveotts#Adaroser

14.01.2022 John and Rosie in the 80cm

12.01.2022 Had a great time at Pittsworth Show on Friday and Saturday! Rosie and Manny jumped really well in the 75cm and 90cm, showing great improvement and handling the scary ringside drama like pros. Major was 2nd in the 1.05m missing out on the blue by .04 of a second also placed 3rd in the 1.15m class. Manny and Major came back for day two on Saturday. Manny jumped a super 1m round and tackled his first ever triple bar without a glance! Unfortunately one rail left him out of the j...ump off. Major went double clear and came in third against some tough competition. One rail in the 1.10m left is out of the jump off this time round but really happy with how Major is handling the higher heights. Thankyou to all the event organisers for a wonderful show Also looking forward to seeing some beautiful photos from Shannon Oshea Kemp who was the professional photographer for the event

09.01.2022 Major and I in the Michael Nolan Racing 1.10m this morning. One rail but super happy with how he jumped.

09.01.2022 #lifeafterracing The Off the Track Thoroughbred I have been lucky enough to work with these horses in many ways. I have experienced first hand the thrill of riding a young thoroughbred around its first few wobbly laps of the track, from the going on to watch him on race day thunder past the finishing post. I do very much enjoy watching these horses grow and develop their love for running fast! And the ones that don’t like running I occasionally get to take home... Working at Michael Nolan Racing for the past five years has allowed me to be around these beautiful and powerful creatures every day. I know how much love, care and hard work goes into helping these horses perform at their best. I would say that the OTT has been a highlight in my equine career. Back when I was at school the OTT’s were always a large part of the equestrian program and from there my love of retraining these fantastic and versatile animals began. Many of my achievements in equestrian have been due to having these great animals in my life. Below are a few of the beloved horses that have passed through our gates, found new careers and gone on to loving homes. My partner John Trace and I will continue to make the Off the Track Thoroughbred a priority in our training and competition program.

09.01.2022 Major and I had a fantastic weekend at Warwick ODE, kick starting our eventing season with a win in the EVA95 Senior class!! So proud of my main man for tackling the wet course like it was nothing. It was fantastic to be back out at an ODE after almost a 12 month spell. Thankyou to Mattea Davidson at Davidson Equestrian for sharing your knowledge and giving me a bit more courage to get back out on the cross country course. Thankyou to the organisers of the event! Warwick is o...ne of my favourite places to compete and the people there are always so accommodating and helpful Bring on the next ODE because Major and I have caught the bug again!!!

07.01.2022 Cross Country training at Morgan Park. Frank enjoyed his first introduction to cross country, gearing up for his first ODE in a few weeks. Mya Rothbury has given me the ride on her lovely mare Annie for her first EVA95 at the Toowoomba ODE. Annie will spend a few weeks training with me before the event to get competition ready. I’m very excited to ride this talented little mare and really enjoyed yesterday’s training session

03.01.2022 Little Romeo went off to his new home yesterday very sad to see him go but he has gone to a beautiful family with young children that are going to absolutely adore him Good luck to Romeo and his new family!

03.01.2022 At the Landmark Toowoomba Stockhorse and Quarter Horse Sales today. Prepping and leading in three beautifully bred horses for Ian McLauchlan from Glen Bryde Stud. My favourite, a filly named Fancy Puss Sale has started and there’s some lovely yearlings, broodmares and ridden horses going through. Hopefully a lot of happy sellers and new owners today

03.01.2022 "I grew up on thoroughbreds, and when I grew up that was the 40s, 50s, 60s. That was everybody’s goal; to have a thoroughbred. And so we grew up on thoroughbred...s, there’s lots of thoroughbreds off the racetrack, my Olympic horse Sinjon was off the racetrack. If I had the time, and the property and the bucks, I would try to get a network all over the country like these off the track associations, and I’d try to get three or four young people and have you know, 50 or 100 of them. So, I’m a thoroughbred person. No horse do I like better, than the thoroughbred horse. Warmbloods are not easier because they require a lot more leg, they need a lot more repetition, they’re heavier also; they’re not easier. If I could have any breed, I’d take a thoroughbred!" - Mr. George H. Morris ( 5/19/17 @ Potcreek Meadow Farm, Redmond, WA) #ottb See more

02.01.2022 Ellie, John and I very much enjoyed our Easter weekend at Darling Downs Easter Show. Unfortunately no ribbons but all the horses performed very well. Major backed up his 1* run last weekend with two 1.10m classes and two 1.05m classes, being 1 of 7 in the Greg Grant Foxhunter jump off. I’m very happy with how he is adjusting to the bigger classes. Ellie and Manny looked beautiful all weekend. It is so wonderful to watch this horse and young rider partnership developAnd Manny... did a fabulous job of becoming my ride in the 1m Championship and then coming back down to Ellie’s level for the 80cm class and not jumping her out of the saddle As always our beautiful mare Rosie was pulled out of the paddock for John to pop around the 60,65,80 and even 90cm classes all weekend. Could not ask for a horse that has more heart than this mare. Such a pleasure to own and work with. John and Rosie make up a wonderful no fuss team.
