25.01.2022 Chronic tail bone pain (coccydnia) seems to be an under appreciated and poorly treated condition. A lot of people with chronic coccydnia just put up with it because they do not think there is effective treatment. Acupuncture is highly effective. Most of my coccydynia patients appear to be virtually pain free after a few treatments. Read the case article below for more info. http://btlaseracupuncture.com.au/chronic-tail-bone-pain-co/

23.01.2022 Not enough people know about laser acupuncture so I made this... please share if you found it useful!

22.01.2022 With coronavirus restrictions easing, we should still continue to practice social distancing and be sensible in our actions. Acupuncture patients are returning but I continue to practice with PPE and other safety protocols. I am now happy to see patients > 70 years old. If you have cold and flu symptoms, let us know so we can get you tested! Now back to some normality... Below is a post on chronic groin pain. After reading the link, I hope you can appreciate how complicate...d groin pain can get and how each groin pain must have it’s own individual approach. I believe acupuncture has an important role to play especially in the tricky cases. http://btlaseracupuncture.com.au/chronic-groin-pain/

21.01.2022 A great video about the strange nature of pain by TED-Ed. The role of emotions in chronic pain cannot be understated. Acupuncture can control inappropriate nociception (pain receptors firing off) in chronic pain. Unfortunately, the video does not mention the role of acupuncture in pain management despite level 1 evidence of it's efficacy. However, modern medicine is slowly starting to acknowledge the powerful potential of acupuncture in pain management. We'll get there sl...owly but surely. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eakyDiXX6Uc

21.01.2022 As COVID-19 continues to spread, we now require everyone (except children < 12 years) to have a mask on before entering Eagle Vale Medical Centre. You will see this poster outside the practice and scattered inside to remind everyone. Anyone who does not have a mask will have the option of buying one from our reception for $1. ... We have just implemented this starting from today and everyone has been very understanding. I appreciate everyone playing their part to keep this virus at bay.

21.01.2022 Starting from Monday 30th March, Eagle Vale Medical Centre will operate with phone consultations as the first contact with a doctor. Only a doctor will decide if patients should come in to be seen in person. We will no longer have a waiting room. We are doing all measures necessary to protect both our patients and our staff from the coronavirus. Importantly, I will still be offering laser acupuncture but only on strict conditions. I will not treat anyone with cold/flu sym...ptoms. I will not treat the elderly, or anyone I deem to be higher risk for coronavirus complications. Prior to the laser acupuncture treatment, I will phone the patient and take a history about what the focus of treatment will be. Then the patient will walk into my room directly from the carpark / outside. You should be out in a few minutes - at 10 minutes I will cut the consultation short. I will also be wearing protective equipment. These measures sound over the top, but I aim to minimise risk to both patients and staff. I want to make patients feel safe knowing we are doing all the measures possible to minimise risk. I will also be offering everyone acupuncture points for immunity which does have an evidence base. In this time of crisis, we need our immunity to be up to scratch. Everyone stay healthy and safe. This is a test of our humanity. Please be kind to one another.

16.01.2022 Hi everyone, With the COVID outbreak in South West Sydney, we have once again removed all chairs from our waiting room. We will ask all patients to wait outside or in your car (especially when it's cold). We will phone or call out to you when it is your turn. Same applies to pathology/blood testing and allied health. As per my previous post, I am still using a phone call as first point of contact. Laser acupuncture continues as usual but reception will screen for cold.../flu symptoms or whether you've been to any outbreak location. If I feel that you have may symptoms, I will play it safe and ask that you leave. I will keep my appointments to less than 10 minutes whenever possible. We have been getting many requests for COVID testing and that is pleasing. Please continue to be vigilant and have a low threshold to get your self tested if you are concerned at the slightest. I hope this outbreak will start to make people take this more seriously EDIT: Eagle Vale Medical Centre will be unable to do phone consultations for new patients due to new changes to medicare.

15.01.2022 Hi everyone, The practice has been easing its restrictions lately but starting from tomorrow (6th July 2020), I will revert back to phone consultation only as the first point of contact for medical issues. If I think it necessary to be seen in person, then I will organise for this. I'm still happy to see people for laser acupuncture as usual, but not if you have cold/flu symptoms. This change is only for me in particular. The other doctors in the practice (for now) w...ill still see patients in person without a phone consultation prior I applaud everyone who has come in asking for or agreeing to be COVID tested as you are doing your part to fight this pandemic. However, I'm getting more and more concerned about the number of patients/parents who are untruthfully denying that they have cold or flu symptoms. We would like to think that our patients care about the community and the health of our staff, just as much as they do about their own family's. Declining to get tested has potential negative implications for a patient's close contacts and the wider community. Common excuses I hear are "smoker's cough", "chronic sinuses" or "hay fever". COVID can present with the slightest symptoms or no symptoms at all. It may be COVID unless proven otherwise with testing. The current recommendations are still for widespread testing, I understand the inconvenience of needing to get COVID swabbed with every new viral illness - but this is now the new norm and we have to learn to accept this. Complacency is the new enemy. We've seen a minority but growing number of patients refusing COVID testing. With the unfortunate lack of social distancing in public spaces, a Melbourne style outbreak is only a stone's throw away. I am doing my part to minimise the exposure risk for both my patients and the practice staff. I apologise for the inconvenience but I hope you will understand my perspective.

15.01.2022 Not exactly the sexiest topic but we need to talk about adult faecal incontinence aka 'soiling your pants'. A debilitating condition that is not often publicly spoken about. Medical acupuncture on a pleasant elderly lady had a remarkable effect. From having at least daily soiling episodes to only one episode in 2 weeks! I'm definitely not claiming a cure, but that is a remarkable improvement. She is now more confident to go out, socialise and live a full life without al...ways being worried about straying too far from a toilet. Please share this information with anyone you know who may be affected. It's important to get a conversation started on this under-recognised condition. There are two main types of faecal incontinence (more info in the link below). She had the type caused by dysfunctional nerves. Keen followers of my posts will know how great medical acupuncture is for nerves. I do not believe acupuncture will work as well with the type of incontinence that isn't caused by nerve dysfunction. http://btlaseracupuncture.com.au/faecal-incontinence/

13.01.2022 Recently been having a few cases of treating Bell's Palsy with laser acupuncture so I thought I'd share my experience with it. Bell’s Palsy is a condition of acute onset usually one sided facial paralysis due to dysfunction of the facial nerve - cause is unknown. Most will recover on it's own over months but acupuncture can help speed up this recovery. http://btlaseracupuncture.com.au/bells-palsy-treatment-wit/

13.01.2022 Lower back pain from sciatica is one of the most common things I get asked to treat. The most common cause of this is lumbar disc bulge and I generally can achieve long lasting pain relief in conjunction with exercise. If the cause is from a bone spur (osteophytes), then it is much harder to treat with laser acupuncture and you will need to consider surgery. Below is a case of well treated sciatica in a very motivated gentleman: http://btlaseracupuncture.com.au/sciatica/... #notmagic #acupuncture #laser #sciatica #pain #lowerbackpain #campbelltown #macarthur #eaglevale

05.01.2022 These American physiotherapists have a great video on how commonly taught core exercises may actually be causing more harm to the lumbar spine than good. Well worth a watch.

04.01.2022 Hi everyone, starting from this week I will be working at: Chipping Norton Medical Centre Shop 15, Chipping Norton Market Plaza. Cnr Ernest Ave & Barry Rd, Chipping Norton. 2170.... Only on Thursdays from 2-5pm. Call 9726 9300 to book an appointment. Otherwise I'll be at Eagle Vale as normal. I will be doing ONLY laser acupuncture at this new centre - i.e. no medical consultations. My intention is to spread this modality to a wider audience so more people can benefit. Some of my patients travel a long distance across Sydney to visit me so for those patients, I hope this offers a bit more convenience. Facebook does not allow me to add more than one address to my details page so it will continue to show Eagle Vale Medical Centre only.

03.01.2022 We just received our first batch of flu vaccinations this evening. Please call reception to book in your flu shot! Free influenza vaccines are available to: - Ages 6 months and over with a chronic health condition - Aboriginals / Torres Strait Islanders > 6 months old ... - All Chldren ages between 6 months and 5 years Everyone else can get an influenza vaccine prescription to bring back or get their vaccinations directly from a pharmacy that offers this service. In this pandemic, we anticipate that our first batch of vaccines will run out quickly (we have already have more on back order). Therefore, FIRST PRIORITY for flu vaccinations will be our current patients of Eagle Vale Medical Centre. Rules of engagement remain the same. All vaccinations appointments should be booked in. Walk ins may be asked to come back later for a scheduled time. You will wait outside or in the car until you are called in. You should not be spending more than 10 minutes in the centre. If this is your first time ever having the flu shot or you have had a reaction before, then you will wait outside nearby for about 15 minutes - inform us immediately if you develop a reaction. We will be trialing a nurse vaccination station at the front where the waiting room previously was to see if we can speed the process up. The nurse and reception staff will guide you on how this works. If our nurse is booked out, you can book in directly with a doctor for the vaccination too. We want to get our patients vaccinated as quickly and safely as possible in preparation for the coronavirus pandemic.

01.01.2022 There appears to be some confusion regarding the changes at Eagle Vale Medical Centre from 30th March. Our centre will remain physically open but will operate predominantly by phone consultation. Prescriptions, referral letters, and medical certificates can be left out the front at reception for you to collect. Doctors will then decide if you need to be physically examined or not. For walk-ins with no appointments, we will book you in with a doctor / nurse but you will have... to wait outside or in your car or at home until a doctor phones you, depending on the time of your appointment. We will continue with blood testing, wound dressings and vaccinations as usual, but you must wait outside / in your car until it is your turn. For childhood vaccinations, only ONE person is allowed in with the child. As before, there will be no waiting room - all the chairs will be removed. Please DO NOT enter the premises if you have cold/flu symptoms. Please call in instead. Honesty is of utmost importance in this current climate. If you are not honest with us, we have the right to ask you leave the premises and we will call you on your phone instead. Our phone lines will be put under strain and you may have difficulty trying to get through. Please be patient.
