15.01.2022 Network Outages affecting voice services Many of our clients are reporting problems making and receiving calls. These include, not being able to make or receive any calls, being able to pick up an incoming call but not hearing the caller or the caller not hearing you, call drop outs and issues with call quality.... BTS have been advised that this is as a result of significant network congestion and bandwidth limitations across the internet Australia wide. Whilst unconfirmed, it appears that this has been caused by a sudden increase in the number of people working from home (or being based at home) across Australia as a result of the COVID-19 virus. This is a widespread issue and is not limited to any specific provider. It is affecting customers who obtain their voice services (Telephone lines) via Telcos like Telstra, Engin, More Telecom and others through the internet/NBN. As we have been advised that the issue is caused by national internet bandwidth issues at Tier 1 Carrier/Telco level, BTS are unfortunately unable to resolve the problem for our clients at this time and every endeavour is being made to determine how long the outages and issues may last. As stated, they are widespread and are affecting many (perhaps all) Telcos across the country and may be ongoing. As BTS are receiving a high volume of calls and enquiries regarding this issue (and are also having issues with receiving calls), we request that any requests are directed to [email protected] and that our clients understand that immediate responses may not be possible. Whilst BTS are unable to resolve these issues, we will endeavour to keep clients informed and provide advice. Based on the information available at this point we do expect these issues to be ongoing on an intermittent basis.
