15.01.2022 Exactly 16 years ago hours before I became a Mother This is the only photo I have of me before my first childs birth because the hospital staff were telling me I wouldnt deliver my baby until the following afternoon! The staff wanted to send my husband home and give me a sleeping tablet I.DONT.THINK.SO Never had a sleeping tablet in my life! I got my way and my husband stayed but he was so fixated on watching the Olympics in Greece on TV that I laboured the first part on my own not knowing whether I was or wasnt in labour My labour was fast and furious with my first born Jacob arriving only hours after this photo was taken..

14.01.2022 Sweet 16 A little trip down memory lane and all my boy has achieved through grit and determination in just 16 years. By far the hardest time with my angel boy was the first year of his life. When you scroll through the images youll see Jacob transform into the happiest little boy and man!... This kid literally brightens up my life, such a beautiful, humble, kind, generous, caring, calm, empathetic, loyal and resilient young man. My little quiet achiever who gives his all and NEVER EVER GIVES UP! Ill share with you a little story Jacob is in Year 10 and he had first semester exams recently. The first kind of exams where you study at home and dont go to school unless you have an exam. Jacob had 7 exams to sit (Maths A, Chemistry, Human Biology, Biology, Chinese, Geography/HASS and English), he did really well in 6 of his exams topping Maths A and Human Biology out of over 200 boys. In English he didnt do so well and actually failed the essay section. He was disappointed with himself. Of his own volition he re-wrote the essay and submitted it to his English teacher. She wrote an essay back to him in red pen with all her feedback. One thing struck me in all the pages of the teachers red pen feedback she said I know you know this because youre very knowledgeable in class! I went into a panic thinking that Jacob needs a tutor for English and predicting the end of the world Then I calmed down and decided to let it play out. Last week Jacob had 3 tests one being another English essay. He received the results back yesterday and was rewarded for his efforts with over 80%. I believe by writing the essay again and getting the constructive criticism and a dose of you know this stuff has given Jacob confidence. It would have been so easy to just be give up after his first English result and justify it by convincing himself that hes better at Maths and Sciences or blame someone else for his own failings. I always tell my kids (Im like a broken record) it is what you do after you fail that really counts. Failing teaches us valuable lessons so we can grow
