19.01.2022 GOLD COAST SUCCESS FOR LOCAL FIGHTERS MARTIAL ARTS: Students from the Bubishi Martial Arts dojo in Hervey Bay travelled to the Gold Coast to compete in an AMAC ...competition on Sunday. The tournament was run as a lead-up event to the State Championships. The trip was worth the effort with all returning with medals. Kyal Pitchford returned with a third in the under 13-17 points sparring competition while sister Kenzi won gold in the under 11-12 freestyle and silver in points sparring. This is the second year of competition for the siblings with both enjoying the challenge of competing. Alex Storoy competing in the 13-17 age division won the points sparring competition. Hayden Horford secured the third place in points sparring. "That was a good result for me as I enjoy Kata and Weaponry the most, sparring is one of my weaker disciplines," he said. Jaida Marwick competing in the 13-15-year-old division also scored a third in the continuous sparring. Kahlia Smith one gold in points sparring and points contact. "We want to thank our Sensei's who teach us the technique and discipline," Kyal Pitchford said. All fighters have a single focus on becoming the best in Australia in their age group and divisions.
