23.01.2022 Ok.. I hate to say it but we have some good and bad news for you. The bad news is that due to an increase in ongoing costs, we will be increasing our prices on all equipment by 10% from 1st February 2015. The good news is that any bookings made between now and then that fall for any time during the year, will be secured at the old prices. So if you are planning a holiday to Launceston this year (or thinking about it) get in quick and secure your booking at a cheaper rate today!

20.01.2022 Hi All, please be aware that I've had to take maternity leave a little earlier than expected due to the arrival of our new little boy yesterday. The product does not comply with the Australian Standard, AS/NZS 1754:2010 clause 4.3.7 (b) (i), which requires that the child's head is kept at least 10mm away from the vehicle door during side impacts. 16.01.2022 In follow up from the A Current Affair piece last night and with input from Kelvin Edwards Baby Car Seat Fitting (Thank you guys) ACRI wishes to highlight a f...ew practical and immediately effective Child Car Safety Seat tips that will help any road traveller, regardless of whether there is a gated buckle or any one of the other dozen seat belt locking devices in use. (NB: The ACRI preference is that a Safety Seat is attached to the vehicle using a Seat Belt locking device, as long it is correctly used. However if this is not possible, as these products have been tested without such devices, the below tips at A & B will ensure a safe as possible environment. (A) To assure a safe environment for a child and before concerning yourself with attachment of the Safety Seat to the vehicle you must: 1. Check that the product is suitable to the size of the child. 2. Should it be placed Rear Facing - Forward Facing - angled appropriately? (Read the labelling carefully) 3. Are the shoulder straps set to the correct height (as close as possible to the childs shoulder height) - with no added twists. 4. Is the side / head impact protection device correctly positioned if applicable 5. Are the harness straps adjusted to remove all slack on every trip? (B) A far as the Safety Seat products attachment to the vehicle: 1. Is the Seat belt through the correct pathway and connected to the buckle correctly? 2. Has all looseness been removed from the lap section of the seat belt? (Some vehicle seat cushion compression is necessary when doing this) 3. Is the upper tether strap connected to the correct location (Check the vehicle owners manual) 4. Has all slack been removed from the upper tether strap? (As tight as possible - WITHOUT THE SAFETY SEAT BEING LIFTED UP OFF THE VEHICLE SEAT) At this point there is little point pushing and pulling the Safety Seat around unless a seat belt locking device has been utilised. As all this will achieve is to loosen the seat belt and youd need to start at point (B) 2 above again. Safe Travelling to everyone over the Christmas Season from all ACRI members.

08.01.2022 For those of you who drive one of these models or know someone who does. Toyota Australia has today announced a recall of approximately 98,000 RAV4 vehicles built between August 2005 and November 2012 due to a potential issue with both outboard seat belts of the second row seats. There is a possibility that, in the event of a high-speed frontal collision, the seat belt webbing could contact a portion of the metal seat cushion frame, become cut and separate.... If this occurs, the seat belt may not properly restrain the occupant, which could increase the risk of injury to the occupant. There have been no accidents or injuries in Australia as a result of this condition. For all impacted vehicles, Toyota dealers will add resin protection covers to the metal seat cushion frames. These parts are presently being prepared and, due to the number of vehicles impacted globally, it is anticipated that sufficient parts will be available to commence recall repairs by June this year. Affected vehicle owners will be notified by mail advising details of this recall campaign. When parts are available, all affected vehicle owners will again be advised by mail and asked to take their vehicle to any authorised Toyota dealer for rectification. The repairs will take approximately 60 minutes and will be conducted free of charge. 03.01.2022 Child Transit Safety? Its not rocket science, but decision making and seat use activities can get very confusing very quickly. ACRI - Tip #1: When choosing whi...ch product to buy, always compare functionalities. How easy is it to use every day. One example is that the harness system needs to be adjusted for every trip, so it needs to be easy to use. Is the adjuster release practical and accessible? Consider this in the vehicle as well - not just on the shop shelf. ACRI - Tip #2: Although comfort and fabric choice may be a nice consideration for your baby, cushions and such do not generally contribute to safety. In fact too much interference from comfort devices often affects the correct use of a safety seat. Both ease of operation and a successful safe usage can be seriously affected.
