19.01.2022 Bucasia Community Kindergarten celebrated Reconciliation Week this year by involving both our families and children in a variety of hands on experiences. We wer...e fortunate enough to have a visiting father who shared his familys Aboriginal culture and one of our teachers shared learnt Torres Strait Island culture from living and teaching in these communities. Children explored Aboriginal symbols, made weaving sticks, rolled rainbow serpents from Dreamtime stories they read and painted natural resources in traditional colours. See more

18.01.2022 Good Morning all. Just some clarification around Just 3s coming to Kindergarten... It will only happen if there are available spots for that year. Some Kindergartens struggle to get numbers, so it is welcomed that we can offer places to children who are 3 and get funding for them. In the past they would have had to pay extra. 4 and 5 year old children would take first priority as they are headed to formal schooling the next year. We are not run like a day care situation. We have set days and hours for children to attend. Thanks to all those who have inquired and would like a Wait List for 2019 that will be forwarded soon. As for this year we are actually full at the moment.

17.01.2022 Media Release - Lady Gowrie supports extending Kindy to three-year olds Lady Gowrie Queensland welcomes the announcement today by the Federal Opposition to extended access to Kindy in Queensland to three-year olds. The announcement would guarantee 15 hours a week of subsidised early childhood education for three-year olds. Lady Gowrie Qld Chief Executive Officer Louise Jackson said the announcement is an endorsement of the importance of early learning and would bring Australi...a in line with international best practice. This means Queensland children will have access to two years of a quality kindergarten program before they start school. Research tells us that three-year olds do better at school if they have had the foundation of a quality early learning program, Ms Jackson said. Lady Gowrie is one of Queenslands preeminent and respected providers of quality, affordable early childhood education and care. It provides services to more than 6000 families and children a week from as far north as Thursday Island, west to Blackall and south to Coolangatta. Lady Gowrie is well prepared to accommodate universal access to Kindy for three-year olds.
