18.01.2022 Unfortunately the fire situation in Buchan is not good at the moment. Extreme weather is forecast for this week. The Buchan Caves will be closed Wednesday 18th until Saturday 21st. Travelling to Buchan is not recommended for the time being.

Meals will be available from 6pm Monday’s - 2.30pm Sunday’s. Tuesday - Saturday: normal trading. 11.01.2022 Update:- The Caves Reserve is closed. Due to Corona virus the Easter gymkhana and Buchan rodeo have been cancelled. The Caves reserve is open for camping but will not be doing cave tours.

02.01.2022 Relief Centres are being opened in Delegate and Orbost to provide support to residents impacted by the fires in East Gippsland. Delegate Relief centre opens at ...7pm today (Saturday 28 Dec) at the Delegate Country Club, 3074 Delegate Rd, Delegate, NSW. Orbost Relief Centre is located at the Community Sports Centre, 40 Arnold Street, Orbost. This centre is open and will remain open 24/7 until further notice. The Red Cross are in attendance and able to register people on Register, Find, Reunite. https://register.redcross.org.au/ Other relief centres may be opened over coming days. Please note: Buchan Caves will be closed on Monday December 30 because of worsening fire conditions. Additional closures are being considered. This is to ensure the safety of visitors and due to the potential for road closures affecting access.
02.01.2022 East Gippsland Fishing Report - Thursday 2 July Lakes Entrance Town jetties and the Floating Dragon jetty for whiting and trevally, best results using pipi, fr...esh shrimp and cut pilchard. Eastern Beach for salmon taking fresh squid. Offshore for pinkies and morwong at the Six Mile Reef with pilchard and squid. Lake Tyers Deep water for flathead taking prawn and plastics. Some tailor and perch also. Good size bream at the Nowa Nowa Caravan Park on prawn. Mitchell River Backwaters, Picnic Point, Grassy Banks and The Cut for bream taking prawn, spider crab, curl tie grubs and shrimp Tambo River From Johnsonville to the river mouth for 43cm bream with prawn and cut crab for bait. Nicholson Best spot for good size bream is in front of the caravan park and between the two bridges using prawn and soft plastics. The Swimming Hole has nice bream on prawn and plastics. Metung Town jetties for bream on prawn and soft plastics. Also try the boardwalk, Chinamans Creek and Box’s Creek Paynesville Bream are moving about in Lake King and heading towards the Mitchell River mouth, Rickes Point and The Cut. Holland's Landing The Wood Pile, Hollands Landing and Tom’s Creek are good spots for bream taking prawn and plastics. Marlo The surf beach for salmon and tailor on pilchard and poppers. Offshore for gummies and flathead. Some mullet are about taking worm. Bemm River The entrance is still closed, water levels are high, up river for luderick taking worm. In the lake for bream with soft plastics and vibes. The surf for salmon on pilchard and poppers. Tamboon Inlet Bream at Peters Rock taking prawn. Football ground for pinkies on blue bait and pilchard. The surf for salmon on blue bait and blue poppers. Mallacoota Harrisons Channel for flathead and luderick around weed beds with lures, soft plastics and weed. The surf beach for salmon and tailor on pilchard and poppers(try blue or red poppers).
