22.01.2022 Please please please contact me before you purchase seats. Just because the packaging may say from 6 months-8 years etc does not mean it is the safest option for the child. When you book in for an installation I get you to tell me the age of children and type of seat you have so I can advise if it is suitable. Please dont be offended if I give you recommendations to exchange the seat. Remember I work as a midwife/nurse so dont do this job for the money...I do it to keep k...ids as safe as possible. I want clients to be fully informed about their choice before I install a seat, and although I dont recommend kids under 2 forward face at all, or kids under 8 in Lap sash boosters I will still install it provided they meet the entry markers and AFTER I have sent you information about what is the safer option. Extended rearfacing and extended harnessing saves lives! See more

22.01.2022 Just because something is Legal does NOT mean it is safe. Ensure you follow height markers of the seats and continue to use a child restraint/booster until the child is 145cm tall OR 12years of age (when the pelvic bones have strengthened and the seatbelt can sit in a safer position on the bones than across the soft tissue)

22.01.2022 When we were trialling carseats pre COVID with Geelong Car Seat Installations and our little models were hungry...nice and easy to keep them all together ...Buckled in their seats

19.01.2022 OUCH. See how rearfacing vs forward facing impacts look on a grown adult....now imagine that on your 3 year old whos spine hasnt fused into a solid ring yet until 4-6years old. This is why it is so important to keep kids rearfacing

17.01.2022 On a budget but need a seat to suit any of the following..: 1 seat from birth until 8-10years Slim seat (easy to fit 3across ) Easy adjust headrest/harness (no need to uninstall to adjust) Best recline when forward facing (has 9 options of recline) ... Easy to clean fabric without uninstalling (uses press studs) Offers both extended rearfacing AND extended harnessing. Ability to swap between different aged kids each day with ease (e.g. grandparents or family day carers) The infasecure emperor is $399 at big w with free click and collect (or around $14 postage). Its also sold at different stores under alternative names with changes of fabrics and extras "grandeur" "titanium" "achieve" "cadence" but all the same shell *Note for small cars it may not fit well rearfacing without moving the front seat forward due to the large rearfacing depth.

17.01.2022 Send me a message if youd like recommendations for seats that extended harness or extended rearface.

14.01.2022 When your rearfacing toddler is quiet and has kicked the mirror so you cant see them... theyve either finally fallen asleep or up to something.

14.01.2022 And please make sure it is attached to the CORRECT anchor point, not a luggage tie down point (these look similar but their weight ratings are VERY different)

12.01.2022 Over the years Jodie ( Geelong Car Seat Installations ) and I have aimed to provide a very cheap installation service (many others charging $45+ per seat). We have both found that we now need to amend our price list. Carseat installations will now be $30 per seat install compared to the previous $20. Changes will be effective from when we are able to re open hopefully in the next few weeks. Please if you have any concerns dont hesitate to contact us and we can work something out together. *Shades available from Buckleup only at the moment

12.01.2022 YES THIS IS SAFE. In fact it is 5x safer than sitting forward facing. Inbox me to arrange a time to get your carseats installed or checked

12.01.2022 Long drives home from camping trips with Adelyn still rearfacing at 2.5years means she can sleep comfortably without headflop and is 5x safer than if she was forward facing. Yes there were many times she HATED the car rides but we persisted (or limited our drives) as we knew the risks of forward facing. She now understands the safety and is happy to buckle up...most times (some bribes needed occasionally ;) ).

12.01.2022 Important reason why to always use the correct restraint for your childs age and height. Rearface under 4years, harness up until 8-10years, booster until 145cm or 12years old. Max out their current seat before moving to the next restraint. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=210762353502794&id=100037070930573

08.01.2022 The Poem shown can definitely be applied to carseat safety as well. Yesterday I posted a photo of my toddler in a carseat on our ride on lawn mower. Please be aware Children and Lawnmowers are not a safe mix. I was contacted by a previous client who happens to be an ex paediatric trauma nurse who has seen what can happen when children and Lawnmowers or Quad bikes mix. So I have deleted that post as to not cause confusion with safety messages. ... I want to mention how grateful I am to have been sent a message regarding the risks. She was so apologetic, yet she shouldnt have to be... she was aware of a risk and let me know. The same goes with carseats If you see a photo of someone incorrectly using a carseat PLEASE speak up (privately message them)...they may just be unaware of the risk. Dont presume they already know.

08.01.2022 Do you have have a new addition arriving to the family and realised your car doesnt have an extra anchor point/any anchor points... Dont sell the car just yet.... Many vehicles can actually be engineered to have anchor points installed or CRAB bars to enable extra child restraints. Check with your cars manufacturer if you can have extras installed.

07.01.2022 Until we hear more about the new 'COVID normal', to make booking an appointment for a carseat install or FREE check faster please view and respond to the pre appt checklist via messenger. Jodie from Geelong Car Seat Installations and I are both midwives therefore need to ensure the utmost safety for your families, our families and families we care for. Thankyou for your co-operation.

03.01.2022 Since 2013 Australian car seats have been labelled with height markers rather than weight limits. This gives a visual guide to show when your child has outgro...wn each stage of their car seat. The law outlines the BARE MINIMUM in terms of moving to the next stage of seat (i.e, it's legal to forward face from 6 months old) but it is MUCH SAFER to max out the markers and each stage of the car seat. A step up in stage, is a step down in safety. 1 Rear facing is safer than forward facing 2 Forward facing is safer than a booster 3 A booster is safer than only a lap-sash belt Message me with photos of your child in their seat if you would like advice on what would be safest for them

01.01.2022 Brrr with cold weather still here please remember to remove thick jumpers and puffer vests before buckling up. Pictured demonstrates how although the harness looks tight with the puffer vest on...when the vest was removed without loosening the harness it shows how much slack there was! In an impact the large jackets and puffer coats compress causing this slack leading to the child potentially being ejected from the seat. Place a blanket (or their jacket) over their lap once the harness is buckled tight.

01.01.2022 Having a tall child doesn't mean they will outgrow car seats quickly or need to be turned forward facing early...It all depends on their torso/seated height not overall height. Car seat installs available. Send a message now to book an appt
