25.01.2022 Maryborough’s creative scene has received a boost thanks to a $3,000 grant through the Dan Andrews Government’s Small Regional Presenters program. Victorian Lab...or Member for Western Victoria, Jaala Pulford MP, announced today that the Dunolly Gilbert and Sullivan Festival has received support to bring a classic musical to the town. The funding will be used to present Johann Strauss’ Die Fledermaus (the Bat). by the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Victoria at the Maryborough Town Hall on the 20th of July. The performance will also showcase the talents of locals and members of the Dunolly Theatre Company. Jaala said she was delighted the funding would be used to further promote live performances in the Central Goldfields Shire. Congratulations to the Dunolly Theatre Company team on this grant and the work you do to strengthen our local creative scene, she said. 19.01.2022 Aria Capella did a fabulous concert and it was an honour to be the narrator for the performance. It appears we will all be hunkering down for a while, so it was great to finish on a high. Thanks ladies for a great concert.

18.01.2022 There are numerous accounts of the experiences of Australian men serving in WW1, from their diaries and letters sent home. But what of the women? Mothers, wives, sisters and girlfriends who were left at home to carry on the minutae of daily living, to eagerly wait for news of those so far away, to live in fear of death or injury of loved ones, to offer the only support possible via their letters and homemade items like knitted socks, jam and fruitcake plus cigarettes and sent...imental items of comfort lovingly sent in parcels to the front. Edie Digby kept a record of daily life at home in Sydney, inviting us into the world of an ordinary woman whose husband and two sons served in the Great War defending King and Country, and anticipating the glorious return of her gallant menfolk from, in Edie's words, 'this cursed war'. Edie, along with so many other women at the home front, kept the heart of the family beating. A Dreadful Time for Mothers, Readings from the WW1 Diary and Letters of Edie Digby will be presented at Buckley's of Dunolly on Sunday 27th October at 2pm by Violet & Rose Productions See more

01.01.2022 What a difference a day makes. We have decided that under the escalating difficulties presented by the Corona Virus threat, it is too problematic to continue with our Gilbert & Sullivan production of The Pirates of Penzance. We have therefore taken the decision to postpone the production and cease rehearsals. Today we had a good run through and believe we have an excellent cast. It will be disappointing news to the cast to learn of the postponement, but we feel it is the righ...t decision. It is possible that we may perform in mid October, but we will cease rehearsals until things settle down. We have a duty of care to the welfare of our performers and feel that this is the best step to minimize any potential health problems. Our G & S committee wish you all our performers and audience the very best and hope you are safe and secure over this difficult period. See more
