25.01.2022 Sponsor-A-Stump Fundraiser Dear Friends, We hope this email finds you and your family well and happy.... Our dedicated team of volunteer builders along with the help of some professionals have been making incredible progress on the construction of the Golden Buddha Temple Pavilion Project. In just the last few weeks, the Golden Buddha Rupa image was lifted by crane into the new pavilion, and the temple-style roof structure has been completed (See photos in document attached). From the bottom of our hearts, we wish to thank all who have contributed to the building of our new pavilion. We have raised a little over $3000 through our Go Fund Me campaign, with a further $1000 donated directly to our account, an amazing effort! We are aiming to raise $30,000 in total to cover the construction costs, which leads us to introduce our new fundraiser... Sponsor - A - Stump! We are inviting our Members, Friends and others to take part in this wonderful project and further share in the merits created by sponsoring specific building materials that will become the new building. You may also wish to sponsor building materials on behalf of a loved one or someone who has passed away, dedicating the merit to them. The names of sponsors (or loved ones) will be written directly onto the building materials. In this way you will be providing part of the physical temple housing our Centres largest Sakyamuni Buddha image. Items available for sponsorship range in price from $17.00 - $11,000. You can download more information and sponsorship form here (click link below): https://www.dropbox.com//Sponsor%20A%20Stump%20-%20Compile (Please email us if you have any trouble accessing form [email protected]) Thank you very much for your support!

23.01.2022 We would like to share an ancient health recipe offered recently by Korean born Supreme Master Dae Poep Sa Nim to over 40 Yun Hwa Dharma centres located around the world for these difficult times. The main ingredient in the recipe, white Asian radish, can be purchased from many large grocery stores. This ancient recipe is good for coughing and uncomfortable chest problems. This is a great remedy for sore throat and to prevent viruses. It also enhances the immune system. The ...name of this recipe is Honey Daikon and is comprised of white Asian radish in squares and placed in a glass jar. When the jar is full put a couple of teaspoons of honey and refrigerate it. Then, about 12 hours later, water can be seen coming out of the radish. This is similar to an H2O molecule, where hydrogen and oxygen bond together to form water. Then drink a couple of teaspoons of that water and chew a couple of pieces of the radish. Those of you who are allergic to honey can just chew a couple of pieces of the radish. This tastes good and will relive chest problems as well as other difficulties in the body. Also, any left-over radish should be put in soup or sautéed, and used as a sauce. This will benefit and help you for not only the cold viruses but all sorts of other viruses too. May you be well and happy.

19.01.2022 Update on BDCU Activities: Dear Members and Friends, I hope you and your families are all well and doing well.... Recently we have been offering our Saturday evening Dhamma classes online via a link-up between our Centre and our Members and Friends who wish to join the classes taught by Anita. The app we are using is Zoom and so far it has proven to be very stable for participants who can watch on their computers or mobile phones to see Anita giving us teachings and leading the meditation. We wish to provide Dhamma classes during this time which are engaging and enable students to increase your Dhamma learning and practice regardless of the physical separation. To this end Anita will provide teachings and commentary week by week from one of the greatest Buddhist books written, A Guide to the Bodhisattva Way of Life, by Achariya Shantideva. The text introduces and gives illuminating teachings on the Six Perfections which are the core practices for each of us to walk along the Path to enlightenment throughout our present human life. The English language text we will use for our classes was translated in 1979 by Stephen Batchelor and is considered to be an excellent translation. The complete text is available online at https://www.tibethouse.jp//pd/Bodhisattvas_way_English.pdf We are delighted to have this opportunity to study and learn from this wonderful teaching and hope you will all use this weekly class as a powerful way of keeping your connection to the Dhamma and your teacher. Teachings will commence this Saturday the 4th of April from 8.00pm. We expect these classes will continue for some months but please join in this week as it is highly recommended to not miss the introduction which will help your connection to this teaching. You can find out how to download and use Zoom by emailing Claire at [email protected] With metta Frank

17.01.2022 Happy Vesak to All. May the blessings of this Vesak be with you always

11.01.2022 Dear Members and Friends, on Sunday 9th August at 10am AEST, we will chant the Ratana Sutta 33 times, to help to reduce the effect and suffering of Covid-19. We invite you to join us. When the town of Vesali was in despair suffering from drought, famine, negative non-human beings and plague, they desperately called for assistance from the Blessed One. The Lord Buddha instructed Ananda to go through the town of Vesali and chant the Ratana Sutta, successfully driving away the ...negative spirits and bringing an end to the disease and famine. We invite anyone who wishes to help to chant this sutta. You can do it any time or participate with us by joining our Zoom session. Please email [email protected] for Zoom log-in details. We expect it will take around 2 hours to chant 33 times. http://nalanda.org.my//ratanas/download/Ratana%20Sutta.pdf

11.01.2022 Happy Guru Rinpoche Day to all! Guru Rinpoche Seven Line Prayer - Chanted by Simon Kearney, Buddhist Discussion Centre Australia. Padmasambhava was a great Indian Master who introduced Buddha Dhamma to Tibet during the 8th Century AD. Guru Rinpoche, as he is commonly known in Tibetan Buddhism, overcame great obstacles to the propagation of the Buddha Dhamma in the Land of Snow (Tibet and the surrounding Himalayas), allowing the teachings to flourish on a grand scale. He ...is the founder of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism whose practitioners acknowledge him as the second Buddha. Padmasambhava is considered to be an emanation of Buddha Amitabha. Learn more about Padmasambhava at our website: http://bdcu.org.au/padmasambhava/
