25.01.2022 At the Buddina Community Garden, we have a lot of nasturtiums growing because they bring a quick, easy colour. Who knew they also attract pests? May be something we need to limit? :)

22.01.2022 Mushroom Compost delivery day. Growing in good soil is the key to healthy, abundant harvests. Don't go to the big green B hardware for your soils as the packaged bags are dead with minimal nutrients in them. (OK for some plants but not food growing) Soil needs living organisms and microbes. I can highly recommend Kylie's Inthedark Mushroom Compost on the Sunshine Coast. Just look at the difference between the kales I planted on the same day in July in my home garden, some in potting mix and some in the mushroom compost. https://www.facebook.com/inthedark.mushroomcompost

21.01.2022 The Buddina Community Garden is looking for volunteer help with various roles around the Garden. With Summer coming and some current volunteers leaving we are looking for help in the following areas. Watering - 30-60 minutes a week on a roster Chicken care - collecting eggs and checking on chickens food and water 30 - 60 minutes a week on a roster. Composting - turning compost, shoveling, raking 1- 2hrs per week... Planting and weeding - 1+ hours per week. There is always something to do around the garden Shed cleaning - our meeting shed requires a quick clean and sweep approx 30+ minutes per week Handyman skills - We also require help with building projects, solar electrics, plumbing, and pumps, these are on an as-needed basis. Training and Briefing will be given and you can choose a day and time that suits you to be rostered on to your role. All roles are volunteer roles and for insurance purposes require membership. Please consider being a part of our wonderful patch of paradise. If any of these roles sound like something you would like to help with please contact via private message.

19.01.2022 The wonders of lemongrass. It can be used in food, drinks and also as a mulch. Just be aware it's hard to get out of the ground once it's in so make sure you choose your growing spot wisely.
