21.01.2022 This week is National Carers Week and it aims to raise community awareness among all Australians about the diversity of carers and their caring roles. Carers come from all walks of life, all cultures and all religions. There are an amazing 2.65 million Australians who provide unpaid care and support to a family member or friend. From all of us at McKenzie Aged Care, we take this opportunity to thank all the carers who dedicate their time to looking after a loved one or a fam...ily member. We recognise the amazing contribution and positive impact you make to the lives of many. It’s also a good time to remember that carers need time to rest and recuperate too. Your health and wellbeing is as important as the person you care for. Consider McKenzie Aged Care Respite and enjoy a well-earned rest. While your loved one is experiencing the comfort, hospitality and quality care at one of our welcoming homes, you can take some time for yourself. Why not take advantage of our current limited-time special - Book two weeks of respite and the second week is FREE! For more information contact us today on 1300 899 222.

14.01.2022 Emma is one of our new part-time Qantas staff who has come to work at Buderim Views in our Lifestyle Team. Today she gave our residents a treat and launched Arm Chair Travel, we boarded a flight to Longreach, the home of Qantas. Emma was our flight stewardess welcoming us on and giving us a virtual experience of boarding an aircraft. She then treated us to a viewing of the new 100th year Qantas on board safety video that you will now see on all Qantas flights. Our residents loved this experience and everybody got to share their Australian Travel stories.

14.01.2022 LEST WE FORGET - REMEMBRANCE DAY 11.11.2020 At 11am on 11 November 1918 the guns on the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare. The moment when hostilities ceased on the Western Front became universally associated with the remembrance of those who had died in the war. This conflict had brought about the mobilisation of over 70 million people and left between 9 and 13 million dead, perhaps as many as one-third of them with no known grave. A...t the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, all McKenzie Aged Care homes and offices will observe one minute’s silence, in memory of those who served and continue to serve protecting our country. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. Lest we forget.

12.01.2022 Buderim Views held our Queens birthday afternoon tea party on Wednesday, it was a bit late but we have been so busy with our new card group and armchair travel. There just doesn’t seem to be enough hours in our day for all our activities. We celebrated in style with our royal kings, queens and princesses wearing their crowns and top hats with pride. We introduced our new Facility Manager Sue to the residents and thanked Linda. Residents enjoyed a high tea and showed us their fantastic knowledge of our royal family in our royal quiz, some residents were lucky enough to win one of the three lucky door prizes, everybody had a good afternoon.

10.01.2022 Each year at McKenzie we hold GoBeyond Awards to celebrate staff who have gone above and beyond in their work to make a difference in people’s lives. 2020 has been a unique and challenging year for us all, and in so many ways we have gone through this pandemic together as a community. We therefore would love families to get involved in the awards process this year. You can use the link below to acknowledge those individuals or teams who have made a difference to you and/or your loved one through 2020. The GoBeyond Awards is a way to show appreciation of others who have excelled during the difficulties we have all faced. It means a lot to us to have your support. 09.01.2022 Every year since McKenzie’s first home opened in 2000, Mary-Ann McKenzie along with family members and friends help decorate most of our McKenzie Christmas trees. This years festive season looks a little different around our homes. Due to travel restrictions, Mary-Ann and daughter, Casey could only continue on the tradition for our 6 Victorian homes. Our Queensland and New South Wales homes would not miss out completely though. They were given the ‘secret manual’ on how to de...corate their trees the McKenzie way, which as you can see from the photos below, is pretty amazing. Mary-Ann says "Christmas time is my favourite time of the year, and I really enjoy being able to spread the Christmas cheer in our homes". We hope to see the ‘McKenzie Elves’ back in our homes next year, continuing on this special family tradition.

09.01.2022 Congratulations to our local legends, Buderim Rebels Hockey Club, Men's Div 3 grand final WINNERS! We love supporting our local community.

09.01.2022 Here is what's happening at Buderim Views in August.

08.01.2022 Today is R U OK?Day a day that aims to inspire everyday conversations about mental health. A day when we are reminded to check-in with our friends, family, colleagues, and even ourselves. This year is one that has presented everybody with extraordinary circumstances. Restrictions and lockdowns across the country, caused by the coronavirus pandemic, has thrown up challenges that many Australians are struggling to cope with. Isolation, empty workplaces, home confinement and h...ealth fears for our families and self has caused mental health issues to soar to new levels. Staying connected to one another has never been more important. In many instances, we may not be able to meet in person but we still have phones to stay in touch. So, if you know someone who might be struggling - a friend, family or workmate - please, reach out and ask: R U OK? See more

08.01.2022 Today marks the 30th Anniversary of the International Day of Older Persons. With the appearance of COVID-19 in 2020, the highlighted need for more awareness around the health and mental needs of our ageing generations has come further into the spotlight, this is especially represented in this decade’s theme for International Day of Older Persons - The Decade of Healthy Ageing. Ageing is a privilege and at McKenzie we are very proud to be part of our older generation’s journey, we place great value on being able to offer assistance to our resident’s health, care and social needs. Today, we pay tribute to older persons everywhere and thank them for everything they have contributed to our society. Make sure you let the older people in your life know how much you love them.

07.01.2022 Tomorrow is Remembrance Day and in commemoration of this solemn day, Ron Wollington, a resident at CapellaBay in Queensland, has put pen to paper and written a poem. Ron’s poem, titled ‘Remembrance Day’ is a wonderful tribute to all those who fought and died in wars. The black and white photo was taken in 1945 when Private Ron Wollington was 19 years old. Ron was enlisted in the Royal Ulster Riffle Brigade and he often talks about the comradery and old fashioned mateship that... has lasted a lifetime. Thank you Ron, for sharing your poetry with all of us. We are sure it will touch the hearts of many people.

07.01.2022 Tomorrow is Aged Care Employee day. Never has it been more important to acknowledge the incredible job our staff do than this year. To each and every one of you - you are simply the best. Thank You.

07.01.2022 Check out what's happening at Buderim Views in July with our Activities Calendar.

07.01.2022 On Monday our residents enjoyed making biscuits, after mixing the ingredients together residents used our biscuit cutters (that were donated to us by Big W - Kawana) to cut out the shapes. Once all the cookies where cut out we went and had our lunch while they baked in the kitchen. We then met back to have some fun decorating them. We cheekily asked our residents if they would like to start a children’s party business, but oddly nobody took us up on the offer. Although they loved each and every step the best part of baking is enjoying the fruits of their labour with a cupaa for afternoon tea and we had enough left over that we had them again for morning tea on Tuesday.

06.01.2022 To all our friends and followers, we wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a New Year that brings health, happiness and togetherness. Thank you for your support during 2020. The encouragement and positive feedback we have received from many of our followers has been greatly appreciated. We look forward to sharing many more photos and videos with you in 2021!
