23.01.2022 The Lower Block Movement: From guard position, turn your left arm to the right (inward) and lower your arm down towards the side of the leg, leaving your closed fist facing towards your body. Application: Low blocks can be used to prevent strikes to the mid-body, such as side kicks, roundhouse kicks, and hook punches. Try to reduce damage to the ribs by blocking strikes with the outer forearm.... An example of a lower block is the Gedan-barai.

20.01.2022 The Dojo-kun is a very important part of understanding what karate is all about and it is also one of the things that sets karate apart from many other disciplines. Karate is not a sport, it is a way of life that follows the principles described in the Dojo-kun. Dojo-kun is a Japanese martial arts term literally meaning (training hall) rules. They are generally posted at the entrance to a dj or at the "front" of the dojo (shomen) and outline behaviour expected and disallowe...d. In some styles of martial arts they are recited at the end of a class. : 9 Yarramundi Dr, Dean Park NSW 2761 : 0455 118 226 : [email protected] : https://www.themartialway.com.au/
20.01.2022 When Practicing KIHON, the Karateka must keep the following in mind: 1.Form Balance and stability are necessary to basic techniques. Kicking -- in which one leg supports the entire body -- is an example of technique that depends on the Karateka's sense of balance. Karate movements involve shifting the body's center of gravity, which demands good balance and control of the body. In addition, the Karateka requires stable joints, stances, and posture to deliver (or withstand) ma...Continue reading
19.01.2022 "Karate-Do strives internally to train the mind to develop a clear conscience, enabling one to face the world honestly, while externally developing strength to the point where one may overcome even ferocious wild animals. 16.01.2022 One of the most versatile and powerful weapons of any Karate is the Seiken (Fore fist). To make a proper fist, start by extending all four fingers and pressing them tightly together. Curl your fingers so that the tip of each finger touches its base. Continue to curl your hand, clenching the tips of your fingers tightly into your palm. Between strikes you may slightly relax your fist but be careful not to let the little finger come loose. Be sure to squeeze the fist tight agai...n upon impact. Fold your thumb down across the middle of your index finger and middle finger, as shown in the illustration. Keep your thumb curled tightly in this position to keep it from being hurt. It’s very important to keep your wrist straight to extend the right angle formed between the front and top of your fist. This will enable you to transmit the maximum amount of force on impact. The strong knuckles of the index finger and the middle finger form the striking area of the Seiken. Be careful not to strike with the weaker knuckles of the ring or little finger.

15.01.2022 With the permission of Master Funakoshi, Nakayama and some of the other senior students formed the Nihon Karate Kyokai Japan Karate Association (JKA) in 1949. Master Fuankoshi was named as chief instructor with Nakayama as chief technical adviser. Nakayama guided the JKA through its difficult early days and through his hard work made it into one of the biggest and most respected Shotokan associations in the world. Application: Inward blocks, also referred to as inside blocks, are a great way to deflect straight punches and kicks to the head, such as jabs and side kicks. 09.01.2022 Shtkan Karate is predominantly a weaponless martial art style that is founded on the basic physical techniques of punching, striking, kicking and blocking. The power from these techniques largely relies on the movement of the hips. As you progress higher up the ranks there becomes a deeper psychological component to serious Karate training which develops character. : 9 Yarramundi Dr, Dean Park NSW 2761 : 0455 118 226 : [email protected]... : https://www.themartialway.com.au/ See more
