20.01.2022 So proud of the boys for getting to the World Masters in Qatar, their first competition in almost a year. For Josh, the 10 day pre-comp notice of participation was particularly challenging with 3 trips to the airport in 3 days before his Visa finally came through. Wishing them and all the Australian Team members all the best. #Team Katz - Rio 2016 Olympians #whateverittakes #Budokanfamily #Budokan Judo

14.01.2022 Great interview with Kerrye by the IJF on the 40th Anniversary of Kerrye's participation in the first Women's World Championships in Madison Square Gardens New York in 1980. Shame she was ducking behind Karin Sheedy in the photo - probably wanted to stay close to Muhammad Ali. Since her first of 5 World Championship representations 40 years ago and an Olympic Games 32 years ago, I am proud to say that Kerrye is more active now in Judo than ever before. Hats off, respect and love always.

14.01.2022 Congratulations to all our 32 U9 Mons players for competing in our club teams competition last Wednesday. Great techniques and loads of fun. Also great refereeing from the junior and senior members of the club. Team "Allstars" came away with the wins. Awards for the best throws, best groundwork and best fighting spirit were presented. 07.01.2022 Humbled to have won Sport NSW Community Coach of the Year against coaches from some strong mainstream sports. This is really a team effort with Kerrye and all the Budokan Judo Club, Castle Hill, NSW, Australia Coaches, Committee and athletes. Great exposure for the club and for Judo.

05.01.2022 A Judo parent sends me a photo of her son she took at 2pm. She explains that in the photo, she is telling him, Class is not until 5pm. To which he replies, I... know, but I’m ready to go. As a kid, I remember running to the dojo. It was a tough place, but it was my playground. I loved meeting my friends there and the way my Sensei would slap the top of my head when I greeted him. Now, as a Sensei myself, I often overthink how the class should be. What to teach? Is everyone improving? This message reminded me not to worry so much. Kids just wanna be here. A few show up early and following me around as I set up for the day, bombarding me with a ton of questions. They also find it important to tell me everything that happened to them since our last meeting. I’ll be honest, it’s exhausting! But, when I stop to think about it what a blessing in my life! What a true blessing for having the opportunity, to be able to be there for a kid. These little rug-rats make my life complete. and y’know, they really don’t really ask for much, just for me to be there.
