08.01.2022 Recently the Landsborough CFA had a call out to a smoldering mound observed by someone passing by. This is what they found.... this is a termite nest that has self-combusted! Upon inspection by the CFA a contributing factor to this happening was not detected. The internal of a termite nest where the nursery is can get up to 35 degrees depending on outside temperatures , however this is extremely rare for them to self-combust. Thank you Landsborough CFA for sharing these photos, its important for our communities to be aware heading into the fire season and not to ignore it.
