22.01.2022 But my dog is healthy, active and happy on a diet of dry food! As you could probably guess, I hear this a lot from dog owners who are apprehensive about a change in their dogs diet - particularly when theyre confronted with new information about the kibble diet theyre feeding their dog. I will always tell them that if they think their fur baby is full of life now, imagine how much healthier and happier theyll be if they eat the right food!... Unless we live under a rock, we all have that one young friend who smokes, drinks and eats junk food often, yet somehow they look and feel like a picture of health with no aches or pains... but when it comes to our dogs pain threshold, its generally much different from a humans. Imagine if we feel pain on a scale of 1-10, Dogs wont feel the pain until about 7 on that same scale. So, that hedonistic friend of ours can see the warning signs of a health problem early, which gives them the opportunity to change their lifestyle straight away and have a chance of survival. Our dogs, however, will likely only show signs of a bad health problem when its almost too late to prevent it - they cant speak up before its obvious to you - so why would you put them through that? Youre so much better off financially and emotionally to be proactive, not reactive with your dogs health... remember its *you* who is in control of every aspect of their lives, including their diet, so to give them the best chance of success, feed them an actual species-appropriate diet and feel free to reach out to us for strategies that will help you wean your dog off the kibble and onto real food!

10.01.2022 Dogs lick their pack members and themselves for many reasons and if you want to curb the behaviour, it helps to understand its cause. We taste goodIf your dog is licking their bowl, the floor after a spill, or the counter after youve been cooking, you might easily conclude that they simply like the taste. But did you know that the same thing can be true when theyre licking us? Sometimes we have tiny food particles that they can taste, and beyond that, dogs enjoy the salt... on our skin. GroomingYou might not think of your pup as particularly concerned with hygiene, but dogs often lick to clean themselves, just like cats. Pay close attention, though, because excessive anal cleaning can indicate that the glands need to be expressed. HealingDog saliva has enzymes that kill off bacteria, and when a dog licks himself, it helps to get rid of dead tissue and clean dirt from wounds. Some dogs, however, just cant stop themselves and may reopen wounds or cause other kinds of harm through excessive licking. CompulsionSpeaking of excessive licking, if you notice that your dog is licking the same object or area over and over or that they seem to be doing so whenever they are scared or nervous, it might be time to seek medical help. While licking can be a healthy stress reliever, obsessive licking merely reinforces anxiety and makes the problem worse. CommunicationDogs lick other dogs to tell them all sorts of things: everything from Im hungry to I submit to you to Lets be friends. They do this with people as well, but were typically not as good at interpreting the message. If your dog is licking you with intensity, take a look around and see if something is amiss. Maybe the water bowl is empty or the doggie door is closed. Chances are your dog needs something. AffectionThis is the most common reason that domestic dogs lick and tends to be the kind of licking most pet parents want to change. Licking for affection causes your dog to release pleasurable endorphins that calm and comfort them, but sometimes it can just get to be too much for people. If you want your dog to stop, ignore them and walk into another room whenever it begins.

09.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day to all of our Doggy Dad friends
08.01.2022 FRIYAY! Isnt it funny how your dog can smell the weekend is on its way? Almost time to close the laptop, spoil them with a little more attention and linger at the park a little while longer! What are your plans with puppyface this weekend?
08.01.2022 I know we all love to spoil our dogs and wed feel terrible about disappointing them when they come up to you wanting a treat So how many treats can be part of a healthy doggy diet? Yep - you guessed it - I get asked this question a lot!!... Heres a quick & easy guide to treating your dog right. Bugsys freeze-dried rangeis a great way to spoil your Dog without feeling guilty about what youre feeding them. I usually recommend that you stick to giving them 2 of these treats per day. However, some dogs are known to get stuck into the whole bag...If this is your dog, dont worry, Bugsy treats are all-natural. But whilst our treats are nutrient packed, theyre not meant to be a meal replacement. They say too much of anything can be bad for you, and that rings true for some common treats that are often the show stopping absolute favorites. So - try not to give them *too* much bone, as bone can dry up their digestive systems, causing excessively hard stools and constipation. Too much liver can cause the opposite problem, giving them the runs. They deserve and need each of these, in moderation. If youre looking for a guilt-free indulgence, I recommend JerkyandFishproducts.Otherwise, Id generally recommend 1-2 treats per day for Smaller Dogs, 3 for medium-sized Dogs and at least 4 for large Dogs. Getting your Dog into a routine has immense benefits for their health and wellbeing, and incorporating treats into this routine will lead to a healthy relationship with them. Heres my routine with my dogs: * I usually give treats as soon as I wake up, it keeps them occupied so I can get ready in peace! * When Im ready I give them breakfast, with another treat after breakfast before leaving for work. * Id also give them another treat during training. * Then Id give them another treat before bed. Think high value treats. Dogs get fat from carbs, not protein, so treats with high protein content like kangaroo ribs are great because theyll get loads of benefit and be happily occupied for longer. Theres lots of guilt-free treats that your Dog will love in our range - have a look and were here to help with any questions you have

05.01.2022 The number one question the vets have been receiving this week is how to deal with pet allergies! Is your dog suffering from any of these symptoms? biting their feet... rashes scratching more often hot spots sneezing Simply put, allergies are an indication of an incorrect immediate response of the immune system. In other words, its kind of like an iceberg that pops out of the ocean but the base of it is so much more than meets the eye at the top. The reason these symptoms come to the surface is because spring time pollen is the straw thats breaking the camel's back so to speak. Our pets do have the power to heal, but we as pet parents need to provide the support they need - and the ingredients of their dietary intake is literally the most important component to do that. With the onset of allergies, the first thing we recommend is to feed wholefoods only and no starchy carbs (kibble contains 60% carbs). Rotating proteins is also very important. If you give them chicken everyday, they will develop food sensitivities towards that protein. The reason for this is when their bodies are compromised, their immune response will be also be compromised. So try feeding them a novel protein, (ie) a protein that they haven't tried before, like turkey, rabbit or fish. Chances are, theyll love it and the switch will be very good for them! Its key to remember that pharmaceuticals are suppressing drugs and don't address the actual underlying issue and a holistic Vet will always tell you, an appropriate diet will generally work wonders to prevent most allergic symptoms. This is also our first hand experience in dealing with allergies, which is why weve created our range of complete raw food meals, so pet owners can address issues like these with ease everyday.
