They provide shade, remove heat from the air, reduce roof temperatures ...and reduce energy costs with natural insulation; they also create peaceful retreats, reduce stormwater runoff and on a wider scale improve air quality and reduce urban heat. On hot summer days, the surface temperature of a green roof can be cooler than the air temperature, whereas the surface of a conventional rooftop can be up to 50C warmer. See more

23.01.2022 Further to my post on Green Buildings... Plants have an amazing way of keeping us humans comfortable, and perform it very simply... Have you ever been standing ...in an open field in the late afternoon, and felt a coolness in the air? You then walked over to a large group of trees and slowly noticed the air becoming warmer. In under the canopy, the air is warmer and remains fairly constant, only becoming cooler when the outside temperature is hot. This is natures reverse cycle air conditioner, without the running costs.
