21.01.2022 Been spending some time sorting out cyclone debbie repairs at a resort, but got to shake my head at whoever went through the units with a prong type moisture meter poking holes in otherwise undamaged walls and ceilings that now have to be repaired.

19.01.2022 Quite happy with progress of the new business to date, having started from scratch October 2018 with virtually zero advertising done. I was intending to have a website up and running by now but I am currently at capacity along with my drafting and engineering co workers. Just got engaged for yet another commercial fire job today which has damaged 14 industrial units, this to add to two other commercial fire repair jobs currently in progress. We also are very busy with project management works with approval this week for yet another strata titled unit complex which requires extensive repairs.
17.01.2022 https://www.facebook.com/139175562844906/posts/3395443233884773/ Forecast this coming summer season is above average rainfall and increased likelihood of cyclones. If we get a significant cyclone and/or flood event, response to damage is going to be somewhat hampered by COVID.
16.01.2022 Roofer: Hey boss we have run out of roof battens what do you want us to do?. Boss:Dont worry about it, no one will ever come up onto the roof to see we missed the last batten! In probably nine out of ten strata buildings we look at, we will find at least one significant defect issue. They are usually to be found in hidden locations such as on a roof or in a roof cavity. I am sure the above is the philosophy of a lot of tradies & builders out there.

14.01.2022 Just arranged to have ceiling linings removed from this structure as I considered it too dangerous to get into the ceiling. Problem is this beam, which is part of the trusted roof frame, is way undersized. Its a 135x35 f17, calculations say it needs a 415x85 21c laminated beam. I actually believe this member was supposed to be the bottom chord of a girder truss, dont know what happened to the rest of it. This is so undersized its a wonder it didnt break during construction. Carpenters and roof tilers would have known of the issue, this is the same root cause of what is happening in NSW with structural failures occurring in high rise.
11.01.2022 We are into our fifth month of operation and are well into our first major loss project being a group of 12 fire damaged industrial units. This is also in conjunction with our other three commerical fire jobs plus two residential strata community project management jobs. All this with as yet no marketing undertaken so we are quite happy with progress to date.

07.01.2022 We usually find non-compliant firewalls after a fire event. Occasionally we also get an opportunity to find them before a fire event. You wouldnt want to be the person responsible for construction of a non-compliant fire wall which allowed fire to breach and resulted in death.
