On 26 September 2018 Amanda was diagnosed with a AML leukemia and admitted to hospital enduring 12 months of chemo. She got to stage where she was well enough for a bone marrow transplant in May 2019. Unfortunately, after the transplant, Amanda suffered multiple infections keeping her in the hospital and ICU for most of late 2019. Sadly, Amanda, age 44 passed away 28th of December 2019 after a 15 month battle with leukemia leaving behind a husband and two beautiful children age 9 and 11. THE JOB: This 50m2 extension, has come to a complete standstill with the daily focus on keeping as much normality for the children and no time to complete the works as a hands-on owner builder. THE GOAL: Amanda’s hubby would like to get this baby to lock up before the winter sets in. I would like to be able take this a wee bit further. 18.01.2022 COBARGO COMMUNITY GARDEN SHED AND WORKSHOP: It was great to pull on the workboots and gloves and connect with the community involved in the PHOENIX shed workshop and the Cobargo Community Garden Shed. Special thanks this week to those supporting the process as well as those attending the workshop. WEEK 1 involved: - site preparation and set out... - digging holes for pad footings - pouring concrete LESSON's LEARNT - using a template and flour to mark your digging area or diameter - face the wheelbarrow in the direction you are taking your load before filling it - get smart and join the Triangle Tool Library and borrow an auger to help with the hole digging. - agitating, tampering, and doming the concrete - MOST IMPORTANTLY - signing the concrete NEXT WEEK: - Ezi-Piers and Box span from Spantec (steel sub-floor framing system) - Timber subflooring - commencing of framing (subject to weather and timing)

17.01.2022 Some anniversary dates for the Black Summer Fires have passed, others are fast approaching. Whilst the recovery process for everyone is very different, there is still a lot to do to pave the pathway home. I would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge the strength, community spirit and resilience of the many people I have had the honour of meeting and assisting and similarly I thank those that have placed their trust in me despite their fragility, to assist them with their recovery. I sincerely hope that 2021 brings you continued hope, resilience and strength for your recovery. Tomorrow, I will light my candle of hope for all the beneficiaries of Building Angels and all those affected by the Black Summer Fires.

17.01.2022 WE ARE NOT IN THE SAME BOAT ...BUT WE CAN HELP REPAIR DAMAGED OR SHIPWRECKED BOATS. Make a donation today. I heard that we are all in the same boat, but it's not like that. We are in the same storm, but not in the same boat. Your ship could be shipwrecked and mine might not be. Or vice versa. For some, quarantine is optimal. A moment of reflection, of re-connection, easy in flip flops, with a cocktail or coffee. ... For others, this is a desperate financial & family crisis. For some that live alone they're facing endless loneliness. While for others it is peace, rest & time with their mother, father, sons & daughters. With the $600 weekly increase in unemployment some are bringing in more money to their households than they were working. Others are working more hours for less money due to pay cuts or loss in sales. Some families of 4 just received $3400 from the stimulus while other families of 4 saw $0. Some were concerned about getting a certain candy for Easter while others were concerned if there would be enough bread, milk and eggs for the weekend. Some want to go back to work because they don't qualify for unemployment and are running out of money. Others want to kill those who break the quarantine. Some are home spending 2-3 hours/day helping their child with online schooling while others are spending 2-3 hours/day to educate their children on top of a 10-12 hour workday. Some have experienced the near death of the virus, some have already lost someone from it and some are not sure if their loved ones are going1 to make it. Others don't believe this is a big deal. Some have faith in God and expect miracles during this 2020. Others say the worst is yet to come. So, friends, we are not in the same boat. We are going through a time when our perceptions and needs are completely different. Each of us will emerge, in our own way, from this storm. It is very important to see beyond what is seen at first glance. Not just looking, actually seeing. 10.01.2022 $1000 REWARD - We are seeking the assistance of our local and surrounding communities. Unfortunately, our KOBELCO Excavator has been stolen from our property at... Bannaby NSW. This is very disappointing as this cruel and heartless act puts all of us in nearby communities at risk. Knowing that there are reckless behaviours like is going on around our community is very concerning. Our padlocks were cut at all our gate entrances and the excavator was stolen most likely using a trailer to float it out. We believe this occurred between Tuesday 22nd and Sunday 27th of September. Police have been notified. Any help and information would be most appreciated. Please share and let everyone in the community know. Watch out for your neighbours and secure your valuable equipment no matter how small or large they are. See more

06.01.2022 Mark lost his wife at age 44. They had only just started their extension when Amanda was diagnosed with Leukemia in late 2018. It came to a grinding halt as doctors bills came in and time was spent between hospital visits, chemotherapy and ensuring some normality for their two young children. Despite a succesful bone marrow transplant, Amanda suffered multiple infections keeping her in hospital and ICU for most of late 2019. In December she was admitted with a lung infect...ion and whilst in hospital contracted sepsis. She died on 28th December 2019. RIP To get the extension weather tight, Building Angels together with their tradie angel, Rogertex NSW arranged to set the joints and render the external facades. We hope that this helps takes the pressure off and that along with our offer for material discount, the extension is completed for you to enjoy with your beautiful girls.
