23.01.2022 The first SUNDAY of the year. By now, you know whether you are one of the people who have taken the time to reflect on 2020 and set ideals for 2021; or whether you are the type of person to take each day as it comes regardless of the date. Both are right. ... I personally am someone who ENJOYS taking time to reflect on what I’ve learnt, what I could have done better and accept the things I cannot change. Self-reflection can be valuable, if you use it correctly. Likewise, the ‘clean slate’ of the New Year... if you use it correctly. To believe you are going to change EVERY ASPECT of your life overnight, because the calendar allows it - is naive. But to give yourself direction and have your decision-making reflect where you want to be - is sensible. Don’t allow society to control your decision-making. Society is still far too caught up in the fact that to BE DIFFERENT is to be wrong. AND THAT IS JUST WRONG!!! Somebody chooses to stay-at-home for a good night’s sleep > they’re boring. Somebody chooses to go out rather than get a full night’s sleep > they’re immature. Somebody chooses to call in sick for work because they’re not 100% > they’re lazy. Somebody chooses to show up to work and put effort in, even though they’re not 100% > they’re selfish. Somebody chooses not to drink alcohol even though they’re at a party > they’re a sook. Somebody chooses to drink more alcohol than they probably should > they’re stupid. Somebody chooses to be alone > they’re depressed. Somebody needs social interaction > they’re clingy. Society is so judgemental. Cut the shit. Reject it. Do your own thing. You are the sum of your choices. You are different. Embrace it.
