19.01.2022 The City of Whitehorse Post-War Heritage Study, undertaken by Built Heritage in 2013-14, has finally been endorsed by councillors and its recommendations will be adopted. Here's what the local press had to say on 11 July 2016.

16.01.2022 Welcome to the revived and new improved FaceBook page for Built Heritage Pty Ltd, which was created a few years ago but we never really did much with it. All this burgeoning online interest in Mid-Century Modern Architecture persuades us to think otherwise.... so stay tuned for lots of cool information

12.01.2022 Although Built Heritage Pty Ltd offers expertise in various aspects of mid-century architectural history, one of our strengths is undertaking biographical research into architects from that era, and particularly those lesser-known individuals who tend to be under-represented, or overlooked, in existing secondary sources. Over the years, we have researched many hitherto neglected architects, and some of this research has been published online as part of our DICTIONARY OF ...UNSUNG ARCHITECTS. Available exclusively through our website, this has been an ongoing project since 2009, and is updated regularly. This week, seven new entries have been added, bringing the total number to seventy. These dictionary entries provide a teaser for the even more extensive research resources that we maintain offline. If you are seeking further information about any of the architects represented in the dictionary, or you would like to commission us to undertake research into any other architects, please contact us. http://www.builtheritage.com.au/dictionary.html

11.01.2022 Here's a rare peek at the in-house reference library at Built Heritage Pty Ltd. As of 2017, it contains over 1,000 monographs, more than 100 periodical titles, and countless items of ephemera. The main collection not only covers architects and architecture (with a strong focus on the post-WW2 era) but also construction technology, services, interior design, garden design, modern furniture and related areas of social history and popular culture. The journal collection inc...ludes extensive runs of such evergreens as Australian Home Beautiful, Australian House & Garden, Architecture & Arts, Building, Constructional Review and Cross Section. Most of the journals in the library collection have been indexed as part of our ongoing database project. The ephemera collection is particularly broad, encapsulating project house brochures, plan booklets (including Small Homes Service plan folders) and vintage trade literature that covers just about everything from pre-war cement render finishes to paint charts for lively 1950s colour schemes. The entire library collection has been catalogued, and the list of holdings can be perused through our website: http://www.builtheritage.com.au/resources.html

04.01.2022 Built Heritage Pty Ltd offers clients a knowledge base that draws from a wide range of in-house resources. Chief among these is our exclusive database of post-war Australian architecture, which is effectively an index of primary sources that include contemporary journals, newspapers and monographs, as well as select manuscript sources. An ongoing project for more than a decade, it has recently hit the notable milestone of 50,000 individual entries. Recent expansion of th...e database includes indexing of selected issues of Foundations, Smudges, IES Lighting Review, Decoration & Glass and Plywood News. Originally, the index was limited to the period from 1945 to 1970, but we've started expanding it in both directions, going back to the late 1930s and forward to the early 1980s. The database can be sorted by many fields, including architect, suburb, street address, building type or even the name of the builder, engineer or other design professionals (landscape, furniture, interior) involved in a given project. It's an invaluable resource for locating buildings in specific suburbs, identifying other examples of an architect's work, or simply to confirm the architect of a particular building. So, if you've ever wondered who designed your house, get in touch with us and we'll let you know our rates for database searches. For further information on the database, including a select list of the sources that have been indexed therein, check out the resources page of our website and follow the links. http://www.builtheritage.com.au/resources.html
