23.01.2022 With this heat, what better way to cool down during the lunch break!!

22.01.2022 It was so nice to finish off the week with a rainy day, we even got to have lunch and play inside! Here are a few snaps from our week for your enjoyment. Well done to Holly and Noah for receiving Student of the Week awards for week 8 and 9.

21.01.2022 After five amazing years at Builyan State School today is my last day as Principal as I will be relocating to the Gold Coast to take on a new role as a Coach of Engagement in Learning. Although I am looking forward to returning to my home town after working away for the last seven years, I am very sad to be leaving such an amazing school and community. You all welcomed me with open arms and for that I am very grateful. In my time at Builyan, with the support of staff, paren...ts and community members we have been able to achieve a lot. From new school signs, to a new uniform, and classroom and office renovations. We have made changes to the curriculum and tightened our pedagogical practice to deliver better quality teaching. I would like to thank everyone for their support over the last five years, it has be an incredible place to work and I have learnt a lot. To the students, I am going to miss you all so much! You are all amazing and your positivity and commitment to your learning blows me away. Thank you to the staff, students, P&C and the BMPCDA for such a beautiful send off. As I say my final goodbye, I would like to announce that Miss Alison White is the lucky person who will take my place. Miss White worked at Builyan in 2019 for a term and is familiar with the school, staff and students, which will make for an easy transition. I am sure you will all welcome Miss White and show her what a fantastic school and community we have here in Builyan. Thank you Miss Fechner

21.01.2022 For the last day of term we went a little crazy. It has been such a great term with the student’s all doing an amazing job with their school work and attendance. Today along with spelling, reading and English we were able to fit in some twister and a visit from some cute little friends. Shout out to Montanna and Marleigh for achieving above our 95% attendance target for the term. Ronan and Joel smashed it for the second term in a row with 100%!!... Have a great holiday break!

15.01.2022 Our elf Dash left us an experiment to do today. We had a go at making magic rain, it was very cool!

15.01.2022 Day 3: Swimming followed by lunch at Barney Point beach were we ate, played, collected shells and stopped for a minute silence at 11am to pay our respects and we finished off today with gymnastics. While the students did their lessons with coach and supervision from Ms Hughes, Mrs Allen and Miss Fechner worked on costumes. Another successful day and the students are improving in their skills and still going strong.

13.01.2022 That’s a wrap! Day 5 done, we’re all a little tired but have had such an amazing week thanks to Kristen from Gladstone Gymnastic Club and Sharna from Terri's Swim School! Everyone will sleep well tonight!!!

11.01.2022 Miss Fechner and Bec worked hard this morning to put the stage up for our end of year celebrations! Our P&C purchased the stage earlier in the year, doesn't it look great?!

08.01.2022 Last week was filled with visitors and fun! On Tuesday our sporting school program started for the term, Rod from NRL came out and ran a super session with the students. Jodi from Gladstone & District Wildlife Carers Association Inc. came out on Friday to talk to the students about our local wildlife. The students absolutely loved the visit and especially the little friends Jodi brought with her. It was great for them to hear from a different source about the flying foxes, which tied in nicely with our English unit this term. Special thanks to Jodi for coming out to visit our school and sharing your knowledge.

08.01.2022 Our learning journey never ends. Miss Fechner, Mrs F and Mrs Jodie have given up their Saturday to build on their knowledge and understanding of our Phonemic Awareness program. Hopefully we will all walk in the classroom as experts on Monday!

07.01.2022 Day two: gymnastics, lunch with a view and swimming lessons.

06.01.2022 Day 4: A new day, a new lunch location. Today we had lunch at the Marina and enjoyed the amazing playground! More swimming and gymnastics fun was had.

06.01.2022 Week 7 is done and dusted. Another great week of learning and fun. We had our second last session of NRL with Rod, Kindy's got creative with boxes and made an awesome rocket ship, there was dancing, keyboard lessons, Boomwhackers in music, forces in science and playtime Teepee constructions! Well done to Shelby for receiving our Student of the Week award and to Joel for successfully completing his Impact lessons.

06.01.2022 Student's have been working hard this term with Mrs White to choreograph their own dances.

05.01.2022 It was so nice to be able to get together with our friends at Nagoorin State School for a cluster day. The day was jam packed with lots of activities, Healthy Harold came for a visit, Kristen from Gladstone Gymnastic Club ran some sessions and students did ball games, relays, sprints, shotput and discus. We were even lucky enough to get some cool things to take home from Life Education and an ‘Active August’ cap from Gladstone Ports Corporation. Thank you for organising such a great day Nagoorin and a special thank you to the P&C for organising tuckshop!

04.01.2022 Another great week here at Builyan.

03.01.2022 Stage two of our Teepee village is well underway. It is so nice to see the students having so much fun creating and playing.

02.01.2022 We had lots of fun today with our dads and some mums to celebrate Father’s Day. It was nice to have them join us for some lunch and novelty games (social distanced of course). Some competitive sides came out in the races! The Hopfs cleaned up in our Father’s Day raffle. J&J Hopf won first prize and Randall won second. Thank you to everyone who supported our school by buying tickets. Enjoy the long weekend and we hope all the dads have a great day on Sunday!

01.01.2022 It's Teacher Aide appreciation week! We are lucky enough to have three amazing teacher aides at our school that help improve student outcomes on a daily basis. They are extremely valued and play such a big role in our small school to ensure we can deliver each year level with their required curriculum. Mrs Lachy, Mrs Jodie and Mrs F, we think you are all incredible and thank you dearly for the support you provide us all!

01.01.2022 Yesterday we had our last session with Rod from NRL - National Rugby League. We used our Sporting Schools grant to fund four, two hour sessions. Rod did an amazing job engaging all the students, he even managed to keep the Kindy kids interested for the whole two hours with fun stations and games! To top it off Rod presented the students all with an awesome pack of goodies at the end of the session.

01.01.2022 Just a reminder that it's a long weekend. Tomorrow is a public holiday. Enjoy your extra day off!!
