22.01.2022 Ive had many students come and go. Each has had to find their own life and way. This goes without saying and is natural. Banpen Fugy Whats important, is... to not lose sight of why one first opens a Dojo. First and foremost, the practitioner of budo creates a training space for their own continued personal study, practice and perseverance on the path.

20.01.2022 Shinobi-Gatana Bo Shuriken Happou Bikenjutsu

19.01.2022 Its not about how many students you have, but rather the heart of the ones that are with you. Budo is about heart. Only those that possess the right heart of the martial artist will naturally understand the way of - the art of perseverance, endurance and fortitude.

15.01.2022 Hitting a wall should be encouraging. It means youre still learning. All you have to do is continue and push through it

14.01.2022 If you place a time limit on achieving knowledge and actual ability in the martial arts, you wont be able to truly get skilled and continuously grow. If you th...ink youll understand budo in 12 months, you have illusions of grandeur. When you believe you have reached a pinnacle or an understanding of something, it is merely the starting point to another plateau of deeper discovery and skill. The process is forever ongoing. There is no such thing as making it in the martial arts. In fact, if you think you have or, believe there is an end point, you have been bound and restricted by your very desire for outcomes. This is what differentiates the heart of the artist from those who have never committed themselves wholeheartedly for life to the mysterious world of artistic pursuits. If you believe there is something, there is nothing. If you believe there is nothing, there is something. Entrust oneself to Mu for the answer. In other words, dont think and just train! Our taijutsu is our meditation and path of enlightenment, just as meiso is the way for Buddhist monks. As soon as we think too much, we will become lost and start creating our own views. Entrust oneself to the training and the answers will come to us, but only if we have open hearts, trust the teachings, and if it is our destiny. The journey is the outcome. Your ability to endure with your own doubts,misconceptions,ego,emotional/intellectual shortcomings, desires, physical limitations and struggles etc, IS THE PATH! Just when you think you have defeated a personal demon, you will be sent another, and then another. We must understand the heart and spirit of Kuki Taisho! In the face of 9 demons we must be able to endure and laugh deeply at their attempts to defeat us. What is important to realise is that these demons we fight are usually ours. So, budo is In fact, learning to fight with our own devils. It is a never ending process and this is why we have concepts such as fudoushin, mushin, heijoushin etc, as mental strategies to help us endure and make peace with ourselves during our life long shugyou ( austere training of the spirit ). Budo is blood, sweat and tears. Good luck in your perseverance of the path!

14.01.2022 Some people have become so obsessed with performing kata perfectly that their movement has becomed warped and unbalanced. They move like malfunctioning robots w...ith no humanistic nature or feeling. Their martial arts is developing in a direction where the nature of drifting clouds and flowing water ( Shizen Gyouin RyuSui ) will not be grasped. Martial Arts is about understanding and moving like a natural person, and not being programmed to respond as a drone in set coordinates. We must be able to change in order to survive. Your training life will inevitably reveal your grasp of this important natural and universal concept. One must breath air, taste blood, and drip sweat. See more

09.01.2022 I once spoke to a person who was a blackbelt in Karate. He said he had recently started Aikido to develop a balance between hard and soft and more feeling of fl...uidity in his movement. I said, you should have just studied real budo from the beginning and you wouldnt be in this dilemma. See more

Even if pictures are taken, video recorded and it is written down, this sort of mysterious aspect cannot be transmitted. The essential truth of B...ugei is that even if something is shown or the scrolls are stolen, nothing will come of it. 05.01.2022 Each moment/movement has deep lessons. Don't rush to win. Don't fight. Study the moment. Learn how to learn. Take the time to breath, feel, and become sensitive... to what's happening beyond you. First master yourself. One must learn to control oneself before there is a chance of truly controlling another. This takes time. Train slowly and correctly. This is the process of developing and unfiying ones Shin Gi Tai. "Move, stop, and think!" -Nagato Sensei. See more

05.01.2022 It looks like tonight will now be the last training session of the year next year I did not book this training session between Xmas and new year but I forgot I had booked it for this year ! Anyone else able to train ?

03.01.2022 The Bujinkan Tasmania Dojo practiced Shuriken-jutsu recently. The Bujinkan Dojo has high level shuriken-jutsu due to it's base of Budo Taijutsu & Ninpo Taihenj...utsu. Many schools specialising in shuriken-jutsu do not have taijutsu or tradition and practice that brings the art to life. Standing in front of a tatami is kihon. The art must evolve beyond this and the practitioner of shuriken-jutsu must move naturally and freely. The only way to understand the limitless possibilities of shuriken-jutsu is by accepting that's it's base is Ninpo Taijutsu and Taihenjutsu. The conventional must become unconventional and then transparent. Only then does Shuriken-jutsu truly translate as "blade hidden/concealed/amidst & behind the hand/body ). Training at this extended class revolved around the following: Throwing from Seiza Throwing from Hanza ( half kneel ) Throwing from standing naturally ( shizen tai ) and in various kamae. Throwing from stepping once forwards, backwards and sideways ( yoko aruki ). Throwing from walking frowards, backwards and sideways. Throwing from running forwards, backwards and sideways. Throwing from lying down. Throwing behind oneself. Throwing while jumping, up,down, and sideways ( shi ho tenchi tobi ). Throwing from various rolling and breakfalls ( ukemi/kaiten ). Throwing while holding a Shinobi-Gatana. Throwing while traversing a rope. Throwing underhand ( sanshin ) overhand ( omote ) and palm down ( ura ). Well done to all students who attended. I have come to realise that not everyone are destined to study kobudo and ninjutsu. I will pass on and share what I have to those that consistently make the sincere effort to attend classes. November 19th is a full day on the Kihon Happou. This extended class will be looking at refining structure and the fundamentals base movements that create the 8 techniques. This is a very important class for all members! See more
