25.01.2022 What crazy weather we have had recently. 30+mm of rain on Sunday night and now we have a few hot days coming up - one of which in the low 30's. What ideal weather for growing pastures! Talking about pastures, are you thinking about harvesting, cutting, baling and storage your hay? If so please check out the CFAs information page following a number of hay fires brigades have been called to in recent weeks. For more information please check out https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare/hay-and-fire-safety
25.01.2022 It is with regret we announce the up and coming Bush Dance will be postponed until further notice given the current events and advice from authorities. We have been advised refunds will be given to those that have purchased tickets. For any questions or queries please contact Bullengarook Landcare directly.
24.01.2022 Great to be out training again today. Been way too long. Making the most of it with our masks, gloves, social distancing and limited members. Preseason readiness training and showing a few new members drafting basics. Welcome to the family Liam and Isaac!
24.01.2022 With fire restrictions lifted in Bullengarook and given many people will be at home due to the extended school holidays and COVID-19 situation, many people will no doubt use this time to do some property maintenance which may involve burning off. If you do burn off, please register your burn to prevent unnecessary call outs from the Brigade. With many people trying to self isolate, a false alarm call will undo your efforts as it will put three fire trucks, each with 5 crew at your front door. Please keep this in mind and remember to register your burn to prevent it from happening.
24.01.2022 *** UPDATED *** It’s official - fire restrictions will be lifted on Monday, March 23rd 2020. Please take care when burning off and remember to register your burns! https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au//restrictions-during-the-fire-d

When the siren sounds, please take a moment to reflect and remember these members. - Leading Senior Constable Lynette Taylor - Senior Constable Kevin King... - Constable Josh Prestney - Constable Glen Humphris See more
24.01.2022 It’s official everyone the Fire Danger Period is commencing in the Macedon Ranges Shire Council at 0100 hours on 14 December 2020 and will remain in place until 1 May 2021 unless stated otherwise. Garry Cook, Acting Chief Officer of the CFA says.. The commencement of the Fire Danger Period is determined on local existing and predicted conditions that lead to increased fire risk for your locality.... This means you cannot light a fire in the open air unless you have a permit or comply with certain requirements. If you do not obtain a permit, you could be breaking the law and may be prosecuted. Penalties may include a fine up to $19,342 and/or up to 12 months' imprisonment. For guides on what you can and can't do during the Fire Danger Period or on days of total fire ban visit https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/warnings-restrictions/can/ For burn-offs prior and after the declared Fire Danger Period, ensure you comply with any municipal local laws and always register your burn on 1800 668 511. Knowledge is the best tool when it comes to fighting fires; help spread this information by talking to your family, friends and neighbours. Stay safe this summer. Garry Cook Acting Chief Officer CFA

21.01.2022 It so good to be able to get out and about again! Training this week was done up at the industrial area. We had one of our recruits come along so we did hydrant work (watch out for those red backs), hose work and then we all had a refresher at boosting. Some of our members also took the opportunity to do their Breathing Apparatus Skills Maintenance at the same time. As always it was a great night refining our skills in the lead up to the fire season.
21.01.2022 Don’t leave piles of green waste near your home. Reducing the vegetation around your home is one of the most important things you can do to keep your home safe in a bushfire. www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare/how-to-prepare-your-property

20.01.2022 Do you know the difference between a Total Fire Ban and the Fire Danger Period? 18.01.2022 Planning for your pets What will you do with your pets on days of high fire danger? When preparing your bushfire survival plan, you also need to plan and prepare for the safety of your pets.... www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare/pets-and-bushfires
17.01.2022 Woohoo! Back to monthly training at Bullengarook! It’s been 6 months or maybe more since we all got to head out and do some exercises and we made the most of it last night! The first exercise was a simulated turnout to a Hazmat Incident in the Wombat State Forest where we were confronted with a simulated illegal dumping of toxic chemicals. We were able to rehearse the various HAZMAT processes and procedures such as approaching the incident with correct PPE/PPC , word backs ...and sitreps to FIRECOM, safely identifying the chemicals involved, reviewing HAG sheets and guides and then responding appropriately based on those HAG guides and HAZCHEM codes. Fortunately it’s situation we rarely come across at Bullengarook but a great exercise to practice those skills. After the exercise we completed more preseason drills and readiness training including drafting, hose work, burn over/entrapment and some boosting between our tankers. It has been a while since we were able to get out in the bush and train and it was a night enjoyed by all even with a few surprises throughout the night!

17.01.2022 Understanding Warnings and Emergency Information. You should never wait to receive an official warning before you leave. Fires can start quickly and threaten homes and lives within minutes. Understand the levels of warnings and don’t expect warnings to be issued in any particular order. The first warning you may get could be an Emergency Warning.... https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/warnings-restrict/about-warnings
15.01.2022 If you're travelling through bush or grasslands, check the conditions for your destination before you go. Listen to local radio for warnings and advice while you’re on the road. Check conditions regularly throughout your stay.... Take the Smart Travellers' Checklist at www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare/staying-safe-when-you-travel
14.01.2022 Change your clocks - change your smoke alarm batteries....
13.01.2022 Leaving early is the safest option to protect yourself and your family. Leaving early means leaving the area before a fire starts - not when you can see flames or smell smoke. Your trigger to leave is what prompts you to act. You should use the Fire Danger Rating to determine your trigger. On Severe, Extreme or Code Red days you should not be in a high fire risk area. www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare/your-bushfire-plan
13.01.2022 The last of the preseason drills at Bullengarook today! Minimum skills refresh and burn over/entrapment procedures. Well done Issac and Liam at your first crack at drafting!

06.01.2022 CFA has received a number of calls from community members regarding bonfires to mark the ‘Spark in the Dark’ event this evening. We appreciate those who are tha...nking our frontline workers, but urge you to keep fire safety front of mind. As today’s conditions are windy in some areas we are urging those who wish to participate to not do so by lighting bonfires or using fire pits. If you are choosing to light a candle, please ensure it is monitored by an adult and extinguished properly. You might like to mark the event by using a torch or outside light. Thank you and stay safe.
05.01.2022 There is another local planned burn tomorrow in Dixon Rd. No need for alarm if you see or smell the smoke.
