The 1st COMMANDO REGIMENT ( 1 Cdo Regt ) holds a unique place within the SPECIAL OPERATIONS COMAND it is the oldest unit - providing an unbroken passage of experience from Australia's WW11 Commandos through to today's SPECIAL FORCE'S. ...The 1st Cammando Regiment contains some of the most skilled , dedicated combat experienced soldiers within the Army. As a result the 1st and 2nd Comando Regiments are a vital part of Special Operations Comand. The 1st COMMANDO REGIMENTS badge features a silver WW11 era Australian fighting knife and a gold boomerang engraved with the regiments motto ' STRIKE SWIFTLY ' On the back of the glasses there is an engraving of the 2nd COMMANDO SPECIAL FORCES regimental badge which was created to reflect the history and traditions of Australian COMMANDOS and the offensive nature of the unit . The center features of the badge is a silver Australian stiletto fighting knife univerally recognized as a symbol of a SPECIAL FORCE'S unit . It is backed by the blackened double diamond , representative of the felt covered patches worn on Australian COMMANDOS uniforms of WW11 . The unit motto is included in a gold scroll ' FORAS ADMONITIO ' Latin for " WITHOUT WARNING " which highlights not only the challengers of modern warfare but 2nd Comandos modus operandi . I have the up most respect for all our service personal my hats of to you all ! There is no higher form of sacrifice to put your life on the line in a combat zone for your mates family and country. 10.01.2022 Hi All The BULLET STORM GLASS ! This would have to be my most challenging and most difficult glass to date ! Now this is MY artistic interpretation of this piece I'm not trying to upset anyone ! I've had this piece done for a few weeks now but couldn't come up with the words that express what it means to ME every glass I hand do has a meaning for me ! Artistically you could interpret this glass as a soldier that's come out of a war zone still standing but forever changed h...aving undergone a huge amount of pressure and stress and still in tact and able to perform it's primary function as you can see the glass is still perfectly round and functional but internally it's forever changed and you can't see it ! My hats off to all the service personal that defend our freedom's! Check out my other cool glass designs on my Facebook page BULLET GLASS COMPANY And my Instagram! I hope you all like the glass Cheers Nick See more

07.01.2022 Hi All, hope everyone is having a great week I wanted to show you somthing pretty cool most people don't get to see these things the smaller of the two bullets is a 50BMG they are an amazing round has a maximum effect range of 1800 yards , the record set for a 50 CAL target is 3871 yards useing a McMillan TAC 50 I make the odd bottle opener out of them , now these projectiles are all inert they can not be fired and are ornaments . Now the larger of the two rounds is a 30M...M Round used on the US AIRFORCE A-10 THUNDERBOLT II it's a hydraulically driven seven-barrel gatling-style autocanon that is typically mounted on the front of the THUNDERBOLT II aircraft , they can fire 70 of these rounds PER SECOND ! I will be making some aircraft aluminium stands to mount the THUNDERBOLT II rounds on they look fantastic as a display they are 11.5 inches long Let me know what you think Cheers Nick See more

05.01.2022 The extraordinary photograph on this post was taken in November 1917. A wounded German soldier and a wounded Canadian soldier sharing a cigarette light while ly...ing in the mud during the battle of Passchendaele. Total casualties at the Battle of Passchendaele (July 31, 1917 to November 6, 1917) are estimated at 475,000; about 275,000 British and Commonwealth and about 200,000 German. 38,000 Australians, 15,654 Canadians and 5,300 New Zealanders were either killed, wounded, or missing. New Zealand’s blackest day (October 12th 1917), is when 846 New Zealanders were killed during the Battle of Passchendaele in just a few hours. A shocking day for a country that only had a population of just over one million during WW1. 4.5 million shells were fired, but failed to destroy the heavily fortified German positions. Passchendaele is also infamous for being one of the muddiest battles of the war, with many soldiers and war horses drowning in the liquid mud. Lest We Forget. The photograph comes from the Library and Archives Canada. Note: Casualty numbers can vary from different sources.

02.01.2022 A line of British troops blinded by tear gas at an Advanced Dressing Station near Bethune, on the 10th of April 1918, during the Battle of Estaires. I have read... that the British troops were from the 55th (West Lancashire) Division. Large doses of tear gas can cause temporary blindness and eye damage. In very confined spaces it can cause permanent blindness. Frequent or high levels of exposure also carry increased risks of respiratory illness. The first large scale use of chemical weapons was during WW1. They were primarily used to demoralise, injure, and kill entrenched defenders, against whom the indiscriminate and generally very slow-moving or static nature of gas clouds would be most effective. The types of weapons employed ranged from disabling chemicals, such as tear gas, to lethal agents like phosgene, chlorine, and mustard gas. The most widely reported chemical agent of WW1 was sulfur mustard, known as "mustard gas". It caused the most casualties, 120,000 by some estimates. Chlorine is a powerful irritant that can inflict damage to the eyes, nose, throat and lungs. At high concentrations and prolonged exposure it can caused death by asphyxiation. Phosgene was a potent killing agent, deadlier than chlorine. Some of the symptoms of exposure took 24 hours or more to manifest. This meant that the victims were initially still capable of putting up a fight. Troops would be incapacitated by the effects of the gas on the following day. Phosgene was never as notorious in public consciousness as mustard gas, but it killed far more people: about 85% of the 90,000 deaths caused by chemical weapons during WW1. The widespread use of these agents of chemical warfare, and wartime advances in the composition of high explosives, gave rise to an occasionally expressed view of WW1 as "the chemist's war" and also the era where weapons of mass destruction (WMD) were created. I have read that WW1 veterans still suffering from poison gas, or had chronic illness or mental trauma, encountered great skepticism and had difficulty in getting attention, because it was seen that their symptoms were not war-related and claims were frequently rejected. Lest We Forget. Photograph came from the Imperial War Museum. Image file number IWM Q 11586. Some information came from Wikipedia. Note: Casualty numbers can vary from different sources.
02.01.2022 Hi All , big shout out to our first responders, doing a fantastic job in some hard times @ Cheers Nick
