23.01.2022 We had the lovely people from Inland Hunting visit us this weekend - didn't get any deer but had a shot. Good on ya guys! Recommend this business to anyone who wants to make a bit of income outside your traditional farming

23.01.2022 This is a little tongue in cheek, but I do have to say that as we live in the bush, in spring/summer, yes we have flies, we have the occasional snake, yes the rooster does crow and the peacock is noisy. However, we have yet to have a review that complains about the raucousness of the cheeky galahs, the crash of water on rocks racing down the creek after a storm and the squeals of delight from children to have so much space to explore. No bad reviews about stars so bright it can seem like day, water in the river that is crystal cold apart from about the 2 top inches or the feel8ng of being miles from nowhere. Just saying.

22.01.2022 Some pics of the new pups. All putting on weight, we'll probably keep the black and white female...

22.01.2022 94 mm rain yesterday and last night! The creek is ROARING

22.01.2022 The first weekend of the NSW school holidays are nearly over and while we have had quite a few camping groups, we still have spots on the river for the rest of the holidays. Be warned though, it does get cold in Glen Innes! River camping does require a 4WD. We also have a powered site on the creek near the homestead (2WD) available from the 11th.

20.01.2022 It's so hot today so we're down the river for a swim

17.01.2022 We've been wondering what the white flowering shrub was down on the creek, so we went down this arvie to have a look. To our surprise it was the native clematis microphyll that has flowered profusely this year and is now in seed. Isn't it beautiful? We've collected some seed so we will try to grow some, it's just so lovely.

16.01.2022 Puppies are now 9 days old with some eyes starting to open: Dozer, now a whopping 1002 gms, Slick slightly ahead at 1004 gms, Little Matilda (Tilly) 635 gms (she was little at the start but a total sweetheart), Arrow still the biggest at 1009 gms (she's the one we're keeping), Argyle close behind at 1008 gms, and finally Gizmo (had to have a Gizmo with a cat called Gremlin) at 899 gms. Gizmo and Tilly are gong to be a rich red like dad, the other two slightly lighter. Aren't they gorgeous?

16.01.2022 Just letting everyone know WE ARE OPEN! Enjoy the frosty nights and starry skies around a campfire at night after a great day fossicking, fishing and bushwalking.

16.01.2022 It is with a great deal of regret that we advise that we are CLOSED as from today due to COVID19. Please contact you camp or inland hunting if you have booked for a refund. We are sorry for the inconvenience to everyone but we are mindful of not travelling unless absolutely necessary. We will post when we are open again.

15.01.2022 Beautiful garden salad with dinner, mainly from the veggie garden - yum!

15.01.2022 Guess which TV show was filming here on Friday and Saturday? It will air on August 9th.....

14.01.2022 Relaxing at the river and admiring the view from the caravan. ...

12.01.2022 We lost Molly today. Our beautiful, wonderful amazing dog, mum to 3 1/2 week old pups, always with Mal, always doing, always there. Our hearts are breaking. RIP Molly

11.01.2022 Just letting people know the guesthouse is currently unavailable due to renovations. When finished we will have two self contained units, one of which has been designed to be suitable for people with a disability. Camping is still available and our new amenities are up and running with hot showers, toilets and a small camp kitchen (toaster, kettle, fridge, electric frypan and sink). For larger groups we also have a coldroom available for $15 per day. Also please note that we have now cancelled our landline after 5 years of absolute hell with it, so if wanting to book please call Mal on 0457 357 909 or Anne on 0498 090 370.

09.01.2022 Just letting everyone know Molly whelped 6 beautiful puppies last night - 3 boys, 3 girls, 2 black and white and 4 red and white. Not as many as last time, but very chunky pups! Mum and bubs doing well, Auntie Corinne got to see some of the pups born, and I'm absolutely knackered after being up all night. Will post pics later after we've all had a rest!

09.01.2022 Maybe Sera with her eyes open looks better :-)

07.01.2022 Well, it's taken me a week to recover from Cait and Sera's birthday party. 20 odd ten year olds running around and having a great time. Took me ALL day Friday to do the cake (and I didn't even bake it!), but they wanted a unicorn party, so that's what they got - unicorn cake, unicorn biscuits, unicorn fairy bread, unicorn pinata unicorn cups, plates, napkins, hats etc etc etc. Thanks to everyone who came and made Cait and Sera's birthday such a great day. I will never forget the sight of 22 children diving onto the pinata when it finally came down - think a pack of wolves with a lamb if you weren't here

07.01.2022 Found this fellow down at the river - pretty big isn't it?

05.01.2022 Just letting everyone know we are open for business. We have water in the river and plenty of sites still available. Due to the fires however (none near us) we have a fire ban in place. Gas cooking is fine but NO open fires.

05.01.2022 Just want to say a huge thank you to all the lovely people who chose to camp at Bullock Mountain Homestead over the Xmas/New Year break (and those still camping!). Everyone has been very respectful of both other campers and the property itself, leaving their campsites clean and tidy for the next group of campers. We still have secluded sites available for people who are wanting to get away for a few days on short notice, just visit our website - www.bullockmountainhomestead.com or drop us a line - 6732 1599.

05.01.2022 Sooo, I wanted to talk about genetics in well everything really, but really about dogs. I know that with border collies (and all dogs) genetics determine things like colour of their coat (hence red and white and black and white in the litter of pups), size, shape and coat, personality (shy, aggressive, confident etc), but I never realised that specific actual behaviour can be genetic as well. Molly had two habits that were quite unique- whenever the tractor was started, she ...would run around, bark and bite at the engine and then jump up next to Mal. She also would snap at any trees/bushes that we went past when she was in the tray of the ute. Now here's the thing: as followers of our page will know, we lost this gorgeous dog when her pups were 3 1/2 weeks old. Arrow, our lovely little black and white bitch that we kept, does EXACTLY the same thing (except more so with the bushes thing, she does it even when she isn't in the ute!), with Shorty. Gizmo, doesn't give a rats, but Arrow has sooo much of her mum in her..... can anyone explain this? See more

05.01.2022 Fishing has been great lately... we always encourage catch and release.

04.01.2022 Unfortunately we have had a dry lightning strike and fire on the property yesterday so in the interests of safety have made the decision to close this weekend. We are sincerely sorry for the inconvenience to campers but it is better to be safe than sorry. Pray for rain everyone!

03.01.2022 See Mals firepit being cooked on tonight by Fast Ed on Better Homes and Gardens tonight!

03.01.2022 Sitting on the veranda this afternoon watching literally hundreds of common white butterflies flying from east to west. Has anyone else noticed them?

03.01.2022 Just letting people know that there may be total fire bans in place for the October long weekend due to fire activity in the New England area. Even if the there is not we encourage campers to NOT HAVE FIRES due to the dryness here and lack of water to fight fires. While we have plenty of water in the river, it would really ruin your break if we need to evacuate you!

03.01.2022 Track trimming Bullock Mountain Homestead style...

01.01.2022 Bullock Mountain Homestead featured on Better Homes & Gardens last night with Fast Ed cooking a delicious burger and getting a fossicking lesson from Cait and Sera. Thanks go to Kurt for doing such a great job giving Ed a fishing lesson, the girls for the fossicking and of course, the BH&G team themselves. Way to go guys! If you missed it, you can watch it on 7Plus.
