24.01.2022 Helping a mumma isn't telling her what to do! I saw this quote the other day and I thought how fitting is this?! At Bump Physio & Co our approach to treatment isn't about telling you how to fix your body. It's working together, one on one, to find ways to achieve your desired goals and outcomes and to empower each mumma or mumma to be to have the knowledge, tools, skills and insight to feel confident pre and post pregnancy. Bump Physio & Co x

23.01.2022 Today is world mental health day! As mums and mums-to-be, it’s incredibly important to look after our mental health. Sometimes it’s doing something as small as taking some time out for a walk, and sometimes we need more help, such as talking to a counsellor It’s not selfish to look after yourself, it’s essential!... Have a lovely weekend everyone

22.01.2022 SRC Pregnancy and Recovery tights! By now Im sure you know we stock them, but do you have any questions about them? I (Nicole) wore them after my 2nd baby (2 c-sections in less than 16 months were not kind to my body) and they were absolutely life-changing!!! And Im actually wearing them again now while waiting for my hernia surgery! I highly recommend them. If youve got any questions about them, pop a note in the comments below and Ill answer for you! And if youd like more info on getting yourself a pair, dont hesitate to call or email us!!!

20.01.2022 This is a really great post from Tiny Hearts Education. Make sure you take some time during your pregnancy to plan for after the baby arrives! It’s so easy to get caught up in the excitement of having a baby (and it is always soooo exciting!) but having some strategies in place for coping in the initial stages of parenthood will help when your feeling overwhelmed (and sleep deprived!) Tiny Hearts Education is an Australian small business that provides amazing first aid information for parents. Check out their website and social media for lots of useful tips and tricks.

17.01.2022 April is Caesarian Awareness Month. Today, my first born , turns 10. She was born via Emergency Caesarian. At the time, though her & I were both healthy, it felt like a nightmare. I felt like my body had let me down, this wasnt in my plan. I quickly made a full recovery and eventually was at peace with the birth. Now, 10 years later, Im nothing but completely grateful that such a procedure exists. Im nothing but grateful that I have a healthy child. If I lived elsewher...e, if I lived in another era....we wouldnt have survived. Thinking about the last 10 years with Sophia, her birth seems like a blip in the radar of her crazy life. My advice to you.....BE KIND TO YOURSELF. Sometimes births go exactly as we planned, sometimes they dont. All that matters is that the safest path for mum & bub is taken. And I hope that, eventually, you too will find peace with that day. (PLEASE reach out if you feel like you have unresolved issues regarding your birth- Im always happy to chat ) -Arna See more

07.01.2022 July is Rectus Diastasis Awareness Month. What is Rectus Diastasis? Well, its more commonly known as Abdominal Separation or Mummy Tummy. Whatever you want to call it, abdominal separation is common during pregnancy, with up to two-thirds of pregnant women experiencing it. Rectus Diastasis occurs when the muscles of your abdomen start to move apart, creating a gap along the middle of your stomach. It can occur as a result of a number of reasons, including hormonal changes a...nd the way your tummy expands. Women who carry more in front- like theyve swallowed a watermelon- are more likely to experience it than those who carry slightly wider. Whilst its not dangerous, abdominal separation can lead to other issues, such as back pain. Unfortunately, not much can be done to prevent abdominal separation, but it is important to have your tummy checked after youve had your baby- either in hospital or here at Bump Physio. In most cases, the muscle separation can be closed through some simple but effective Pilates exercises. For more information on abdominal separation or to make an appointment with one of our Physios to get your separation checked, simply call us or send us an email!
