18.01.2022 This week is birth trauma awareness week. An incredible 1 in 3 women identify their birth as traumatic. Birth trauma can be physical or psychological or a combination of both and can affect thousands of first time mumas each year. Birth trauma is personal and so individual. Physical trauma can present as; Perineal tears Pelvic floor muscle damage... Pelvic organ prolapse Pelvic fractures Cesarean wounds Psychological trauma may arise as a result of an extreme disconnect between an expectation of what would happen and what actually happened during the birth. Psychological trauma can present as; Postnatal depression and/or anxiety Post-partum post traumatic stress disorder Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Birth is so much more than just one day in a woman’s life and has a profound impact on how they see themselves as mothers and how they bond with their baby. So what needs to happen? Mumas need more support. Mumas need to be listened to. Mumas don’t need to be told what they ‘should’ be thankful for. Mumas shouldn’t be told what to feel. Women need support. You are not alone. This is not your fault. It will be ok.

14.01.2022 When experiencing hypnosis you enter a trance like state. Trance is a natural state experienced by everyone. Our most familiar experience takes place when we daydream, but other trance states occur when we meditate, pray or perform exercise, such as going for a long run. In these situations, a person is aware of the vividness of inner mental and sensory experiences, and external stimuli, such as sounds and movements, assume less importance. Within hypnosis it is during this t...rance state that positive suggestions are given and ultimately changes are made. This is how it is so incredibly valuable during the antenatal period to prepare for labour and delivery. Unnecessary fear and anxiety can be decreased, while making way for a positive mindset. If you’ve had a baby before you most probably experienced a naturally occurring trance situation. Maybe you realised time passed quickly or you were unaware of what was going on around you and fully absorbed in your own experience. I’d love to hear your story if you’d like to share below

12.01.2022 TOE SQUAT YOGA POSE This simple little yoga pose might look easy but I guarantee you sit here for 10 seconds and your toes are burning . This is why it is a great pose to prepare for labour, by focusing your mind and keeping in control of your breathing. To get started... tuck your toes under and sit back on your heels. try not to collapse the spine. Instead think of lifting the spine tall and directing the chest forward. you should feel a strong stretch under your foot and in your toes. inhale slowly and deeply through your nose, keeping your shoulders relaxed and then exhale through the nose. Spend some time thinking about labour and how you’ll manage the discomfort of the contractions. Can you manage the discomfort in your feet by controlling your breath? See how many slow, deep breaths you can do. You’ve got this muma See more

05.01.2022 What an incredible service

04.01.2022 One of the incredible aspects of preparing for labour and delivery with the use of hypnotherapy is becoming adaptable and being able to change your mindset. I recently met a muma who was going to be induced because she was overdue and she said to me ‘I didn’t plan for this’. I don’t think any woman plans to have intervention, but pregnancy, labour and delivery are wild and unpredictable and unfortunately you can’t plan for anything. What you can do is be educated about the p...rocess and have a way to adapt to an ever changing and challenging situation. Hypnotherapy during the antenatal period allows you a way to manage your mindset when things fall outside of your control. Being educated about the process is also a huge advantage. Ask some questions to your health care provider such as What is your policy on post date inductions? What method do you use for inductions? If my induction process starts in the evening am I able to go home to sleep and return in the morning? Can my partner or support person stay with me overnight? Will I be able to have pain relief and if so what can I have? When you know these answers you can plan how you will manage the situation and when things happen unexpectedly you will feel educated and empowered to make the best choices for you and your babe.

01.01.2022 What a roller coasters this crazy ride that is childbirth can be. From the moment you conceive up until the moment you deliver your babe you body is going though huge changes as is your mind. You can plan and plan and plan for your version of a perfect birth, but childbirth is wild and unpredictable so what you need to do is arm yourself with knowledge so whatever turn your journey takes you can embrace it, enjoy it and feel completely powerful from it. Shoutout to this gorgeous muma @fayjubey for allowing me to share such an incredibly powerful image, the moment she met her beautiful babe
