20.01.2022 Do you know how prospects come into your business? The best way to represent how potential customers come into your business is via a Sales Funnel. See image below to help you visualise the process! -- Please stop for a second to read this short post on helping you work out your very own 'sales funnel' ---... First off, what is a sales funnel? A sales funnel represents a series of steps you want your prospects to take before they become a customer. It helps you map out your overall sales process, find the bottlenecks, ie why people don't buy from you and also identify where to invest your marketing dollars (should you want to invest in paid advertising in the future). Looking at the diagram below, at the very top you've got various sources that bring in foot-traffic or online traffic to your store or office. 1. The first step is to identify what these sources are in your business. For example, Facebook ads or Eventbrite gatherings could be one or more sources of leads and prospects. 2. Moving down to Top of the Funnel called: Awareness. Once your prospective client sees your window display or attends your event or lands on your website - they enter the 'Awareness' stage of the funnel. This is your chance to impress them. Offer something enticing eg a special invite to a VIP night, a discount if you can, a how-to guide, a checklist. 14.01.2022 What is FIRST-PARTY data? Some call it customer-first data or customer-focused data. Think of it as your customer opt-in data. It's the data that the user has willingly handed over when they completed a form, downloaded a freebie, participated in a giveaway, etc...... It's the data you currently have about your prospects and customers in your email marketing software and CRM (ie database of prospects and customers). The FIRST-PARTY data is MORE important than the third-party data. Remember, the THIRD-PARTY data is the 'data' you borrow from Facebook and Google. And then you're at their mercy when they change rules and algorithms. When you collect the first-party data you essentially start to build your very own database of your customer's geo data, behaviour tracking data, their likes and wants, products they're interested in, etc. You'll be more in control of that data - as opposed to the data from Facebook or Google. This all sounds nice but how do you collect first-party data? Here are a couple of ideas: A/B Split test your opt-ins (lead magnets, quizzes, etc) - The idea here is to find what works, which lead magnets resonate with your audience more. The 'lead magnets' will help collect useful data about your future customer. Create different customer segments so you can send relevant messages to your contacts, thus increasing your click-through rates. Extremely important if you're an ecommerce business! Test your creatives - copy and design when sending out emails and running paid ads When was the last time you sent out a customer survey? Now is a great time to send out a survey and gather data about your subscribers. It's not too late to start collecting relevant data about your prospects and customers.
