25.01.2022 Hi Bumpity Bumpers, Some brilliant baby news from my Preggo Aqua mums to start this week. Firstly from Vera "Olivia arrived into the world 3 weeks earlier than expected on the 2nd October at 8:53am weighing 2470g and 45 cm long. She spent 1.5 days needing a little extra care on the neonatal unit as she was under 2.5 kg but we are all doing well now and she is settling in well" yah!! and then from Wendy "My twins were born last Tues 6th Oct- I made it to 37+6 weeks which I a...m super proud of I had two lovely little boys- George Elias and Vinnie Adam. Both were a good size for twins- George weighed 3090g and Vinnie weighed 2660g. Had them both naturally with no complications. They both got taken to the neonatal unit to start with (George for a few hrs due to his pale complexion and Vinnie because of some breathing difficulties) but both are healthy now and they weren’t in there for long. I’m feeling truly blessed to have double the love, joy and cuddles this time round." And finally Rebecca's news (soz Bec for the delay) " Thursday 8th of October we welcomed Aurora Rose Cannon into the world via c-section : ) we had her at 38+1 and she was a chubba at 3.7kg we are so in love and so happy : )" Fab news and congrats to everyone cheers Jools Bumpity Bump Physio See more

24.01.2022 Hi Bumpity Bumpers, I know I get a bit carried away with those beautiful babies in Bumpity Bump Physio Splash so time to throw a bit of focus on to my amazing Pregnancy Aqua mums who are braving the cold and the winter evenings to come out and exercise. No better example of this than Shauna who at 40 weeks and 6 days came last night in perfect health to claim her "40 weeks free" class and enjoy the fun and fitness of the water. Just goes to show that with exercise in pregnancy it is often never too late to start or to finish well done Shauna and all my Aqua mums cheers jools bumpity bump physio

23.01.2022 Hi Bumpity Bumpers, some of you may have seen this lovely picture in the clinic done by Bumpity Bump mum Miffy. It features the footprints of herself and her gorgoeus 2 kids Benjamin and Joanna. We said goodbye to each other back in 2018 but guess what!! we've just had to add another little set of footprints the pink ones are Evelyn's when she popped out on the 9th of August this year. Welcome back Miffy it was great to see you again and watch out to all my mums who have told me they definitely only want two!!! cheers jools bumpity bump physio

23.01.2022 Hi Bumpity Bumpers, Sorry I missed last weeks Fridays Fact - I was too busy getting rained on down south This weekend and next weekend my wonderful Womens Health Physio Kelly McGinnity is doing a intensive Pelvic Floor Course where she is going to learn how to fit pessaries. A pessary is a device that is used to help support your pelvic floor muscles especially postnatally after delivery whilst the muscle and connective tissue recovers and gains back strength and function.... Pessaries can really help many women no matter how may weeks/months or years they are postnatal especially if they are having pelvic floor trouble such as incontinence, pain and heaviness. It is exciting that Bumpity Bump Bump will be able to have a specialised pessary clinic and I will keep you updated in the next couple of weeks. Watch this space and have a great weekend everybody cheers Jools Bumpity Bump Physio See more

23.01.2022 Hi Bumpity Bumpers, Fridays Fact....One of the most frustrating things about having a baby is all the mixed information you are given especially about your babies movement and development Many of you have spoken to me about this and describe walking out of appointments at times feeling like a failure or thinking there is something seriously wrong with your bub and not knowing where to turn. I was very excited therefore when I was told about Walky Talky Baby by splash mums ...and resident Paeds Speech Therapist Kate (see post below) What a great idea and I would encourage you to check it out - a complete online membership programme that helps you support your babys communication, play and movement skills run by Alison (Paediatric Physio) and Chiara (Paediatric Speech Therapist) Even better they have offered a discount code for Bumpity Bump mums to use to receive $10 off your monthly membership fee (so will be $19/month instead of $29/month) and you can cancel anytime. Go to https://www.walkytalkybaby.com/walky-talky-baby-the-members and enter the code BUMPITYBUMP at the checkout to receive the discount :) Thanks Walky Talky Baby and have a great Friday cheers Jools Bumpity Bump Physio See more

22.01.2022 Hi Bumpity Bump Preggo Aqua and Physio Splash Mums, We are one step closer to starting on Mon 18th May so please check your emails for the current timetable and details. I know many of you have let me know you are keen to join a class (thank you I have been feeling extra special these last couple of days) but if you could confirm day/time for me ASAP that would be great as numbers are so limited for the classes that I have to try and make sure no one misses out. 20.01.2022 Happy Friday Bumpity Bumpers and the fact for the day is....."You CAN teach an old dog new tricks" Me being the old dog and my new tricks for the day have come from my good friend Tania who is a Paediatric Physio. These guys specialise in the area of babies and children and I was so lucky to have someone of Tanias experience come down to assess my Bumpity Bump Physio Splash class today and give me so many tips to make the class even better!! Thanks a bunch Tan I learnt so much and cannot wait to show you these changes in Splash next week ( and just when we thought these babies couldn;t get any more advanced ) It was also fab having The Swim School managers there who run a great infant swim programme so we can look at ways to keep our programmes working togetherHave a great weekend everybody cheers Jools Bumpity Bump Physio

19.01.2022 Happy Friday Bumpity Bumpers! Fridays Fact today is on T.E.N.S. in labour. Did you know that T.E.N.S. stands for Trancutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation? What a mouthful but this little machine is a wonderful way to help manage pain in labour. It is noninvasive, easy to use and safe for you and your baby. Many of my mums have used a T.E.N.S. machine over the years and if that is you and you would like to share your story feel free I have attached some further info for you (courtesy of KEMH who have some fab resources available) and if you would like to hire one out come into Bumpity Bump and we will sort that out for you. Have a great day everyone cheers Jools Bumpity Bump Physio

19.01.2022 Hi Bumpity Bumpers, Fridays fact - the pelvis does not like uneven weight bearing or activities/movements with legs apart when you are pregnant and having pelvic pain. This is important to remember so you can avoid the aggravating acitvities of vacuuming, mopping and sweeping!! (please highlight and stick on the fridge) I have added some other tips in below to help you manage your pelvic pain in pregnancy but dont let it frighten you - it is very manageable and should go o...nce you deliver your baby. Please dont let anybody tell you to "just put up with it" and come and see my team if you need to. Have a great day cheers Jools Bumpity Bump Physio Coping with pelvic pain in pregnancy *Be as active as possible within your pain limits. Rest when you can *Avoid activities that make the pain worse: -Standing on one leg -Bending and twisting to lift, carrying a baby on one hip, crossing your legs, sitting on the floor, lifting heavy weights such as shopping bags or a toddler, pushing heavy objects, carrying anything in only one hand (try using a small backpack) *Get help with household chores from your partner, family and friends *Avoid vacuuming, mopping, sweeping *Wear flat, supportive COMFORTABLE shoes- you may even have to go up a shoe size. *Sit down to get dressed for example dont stand on one leg when putting on jeans. *Keep your knees together when getting in and out of the car a plastic bag on the seat can help you swivel. *Sleep in a comfortable position, for example on your side with a pillow between your legs and a pillow under your bump *Try different ways of turning over in bed, for example turning over with your knees together and squeezing your buttocks or turning under. *If you want to have sex, consider different positions such as lying on your side. *Avoid pushing heavy objects, such as a supermarket trolley

15.01.2022 Hi Bumpity Bumpers, Friday's fact today is all about Vulvar Varicosities in pregnancy. Did you know that during pregnancy due to the pressure of the baby and your hormonal changes that you can get varicose veins around the vulval area. I know! What? this must be a design faultThey may present as a throbbing pain in the area and in the groin particularly at the end of the day or if you have been on your feet all day. If you do think you may have them I have attached some info in below for you on how to manage them and if you have any questions of course be in touch with Bumpity Bump and we can chat about it further. And remember a lot of these "little bumps" that happen along the way of your pregnancy journey should resolve once your baby has been delivered Have a great weekend cheers Jools Bumpity Bump Physio

14.01.2022 Hi Bumpity Bumpers, Fridays Fact today is around returning to running after having a baby. Did you know after delivery your pelvic floor and the surrounding connective tissue can take up to 4-6months to fully recover and your abdominal connective tissue is only at 51-59% of its full strength at 6 weeks postnatal. Since the release of new international guidelines for return to running postnatal, we are reminding our mums not to start running or high impact exercise before 12... weeks postnatal and/or sometimes longer. Please be patient with your recovery and choose low impact options such as walking, cycling and swimming in those early months. The Bumpity Bump Team is currently putting together a more comprehensive assessment of return to exercise for our postnatal mums based on these new guidelines and we encourage you to come and see us for a complete review prior to returning to exercise after delivery. For my preggo mums who love running just know that you cannot run in those early months postnatally so start planning an alternative so your body can recover safely. If you have any questions from todays fact please be in touch cheers Jools Bumpity Bump Physio See more

After a 4:23am wake up to waters breaking and being induced for from around 8am and dilated to the full 10 cm it was advised a caesarean would be better as bubs head was swelling and not making it out of the pelvis. So little Izzy ...was born at 21:49, 49cm weighing 2.96 kgs" then came a message from Hayley "Laike Ray Jodrell, born 18/09/2020 at 8.41pm, weighing 3.074kgs and 48cms tall Super chilled little dude" and then Ciara with "Please welcome Jasper George Gilroy DOB: 17/09/2020 Time:2.04pm Weight:3.765kg Length: 51CM We are so very in love and slowly on the mend c section wise! 06.01.2022 Hi Bumpity Bumpers, Fridays fact is that no one in almost 27 years of working has ever gone into labour on me either in the clinic or in a class. This remains the case even though Jane still wanted to come to Aqua on Monday night despite being in active labour . Luckily she changed her mind because Josephine (Josie) Fay Deany arrived at 9:36pm on Monday night -so close!! Big congrats to Jane and all her family on the arrival of her gorgeous little girl. Have a great weekend everybody cheers jools bumpity bump physio

06.01.2022 Hi Bumpity Bumpers, This video was sent to me yesterday from Michelle who attends my online postnatal fitness class. Its great to see one of the benefits of exercising which is the wonderful modelling it gives our children who watch and see everything we do (and it helps balance out those times when they see us scoffing chocolates and doughnuts) Here is Hannah in action after seeing mum work out Too cute!! Thanks Michelle for sending this through and you are all welcome to join my pregnancy and postnatal online fitness classes if you can and I know it wont be long before I get to see you exercising face to face Have a great day everybody cheers Jools Bumpity Bump Physio

03.01.2022 Hi Bumpity Bumpers, Fridays FactDid you know that Emily Hamilton MLA Member for Joondalup has 27500 people in her electorate of Joondalup covering 16800 houses. I was fortunate enough to meet with Emily this afternoon who not only is one of many amazing women in parliament but who also understands, having 2 kids of her own, the need for accessible and comprehensive obstretric womens health services in the Northern Suburbs. It was great to be able to chat with Emily abou...t some of the concerns that I have regarding gaps in services up this way where most of us have delivered our babies and received our antenatal and postnatal care. Thank you to Emily for her time and if you have any state government matters she is happy for you to go to her website [email protected] or Facebook page Emily Hamilton MLA. 03.01.2022 Hi Bumpity Bumpers, Soz I am bit late with Fridays Fact...better make it a Saturday snippet. I saw this on the APA Womens Health facebook site and I think it really speaks for itself. Hopefully postnatal guidance for all my mums in the community will get better over time especially for those recovering from abdominal surgery i.e. caesarian. If you are not sure about how to manage your recovery please contact myself and the Bumpity Bump Team and we can help guide you through it. Also just a reminder next week that the only classes running will be preggo aqua on monday and wednesday so no splash and fitness classes until monday 20th July- well done to all my mums at the moment braving the pool and the cold - great steps towards a positive recovery cheers Jools Bumpity Bump Physio

01.01.2022 Hi Bumpity Bumpers, ever wondered what happens to your brain when you are pregnant and postnatal? Well today's Friday fact.... "mummy brain" is real Researchers have shown your brain is marinated in neurohormones during pregnancy and postnatal so that verbal recall memory diminishes and brain processing speed is reduced.Add into the equation lack of sleep, a brand new job with no job description and multitasking+++ it is no wonder our brains feel different during this tim...e. Today Meg rocked up wearing different shoes to Bumpity Bump physio splash highlighting how crazy this time can be . hang in there that mummy brain does come back and the good thing is we can blame it for as long as we need to which is what I still do 14 years down the trackHave a great weekend everybody and I hope you remember where you have put your car keys cheers jools bumpity bump physio cheers jools See more
