23.01.2022 NEW PRINCIPAL FOR BRCC FOR 2021 The Governing Council of BRCC is pleased to announce that Brett Piggott has been appointed to succeed Jo Bednall as Principal of the College from the start of 2021. Brett has been an Advisory Teacher at BRCC since the start of 2019. He grew up in Manjimup, attended Edith Cowan University in Perth and began his teaching career in Byford. He then travelled overseas and worked in South Korea and in Canada. He is now living in Bunbury with h...is wife and two young children. Whilst in Canada, Brett taught at Georgian College for nine years. This College helps school leavers and adults to re-engage with their learning in order to gain employment or further education. Brett’s role included lecturing, pathway planning with students and helping staff to use a range of learning strategies with their students. Since he has been at BRCC, Brett has demonstrated his commitment to his students; they trust him to be a non-judgemental teacher, coach and counsellor and they know that he will constantly support them to find a way forward. Brett’s colleagues at BRCC value his clear thinking, his open communication, his knowledge and curiosity about education and the warm, supportive contribution that he makes to the staff team. They are delighted that he has been appointed as the second principal of BRCC and are looking forward to supporting him in his new role.

Today we started clearing the land, making three piles of metal, plastic and wood. Each student and staff is going back to class with one research project: "something I want to know more about". ... - Jesse is going to research the marrons habitat to prepare the pond - Mitchell is going to research everything about the 100 years old sewing machine he found in a shed and hopefully will learn how to fix it - John is going to research the name of all the trees on the property - Liliana is starting a photographic journal of our adventures - Keely wants to learn more about lambs and sheeps - Armelle will try to find out what variety of citrus grows on the farm and what you can bake with them The list is endless! We need more hands! Come and join us! Contact Armelle

04.01.2022 Can you help? We are looking for a mentor. Big Picture Education is based on the belief that the unique interests, needs and abilities of each student must be at the centre of the educational program. As part of their learning students look for Internships for one or two days a week in their area of interest. The focus on real work in professional settings gives the student's learning context and depth. Through genuine relationships, mentors teach about work ethic and model... what it means to be an adult member of our community. At BRCC Bunbury we have two year 10 students who are finding it difficult to get an internship with a mechanic because they don't, as yet, know their way around tools and motors. They will start a pre- apprenticeship next year. Do you know anyone who could support these students until the end of the school year? Please contact Jane Sheils 0477 088 217 or Bert Basson 0455 492 041. See more
