17.01.2022 It’s already been a long five weeks under strict lockdown for many Victorians. And there’s still a long way to go. During this time, 7.30 crews captured images ...that show just how much life in Melbourne, and parts of Victoria, changed. George Stirling from the Australian Boys Choir performs Meet Me In The Middle Of The Air.
16.01.2022 Take a moment to picture the Bible characters you have heard and seen over the years. What race are they? Despite the fact that these characters are predominate...ly of Semitic and African origin (i.e. people of color), since the Renaissance they have been mostly depicted as white. James C. Lewis, an international photographer, grew up with a Bible that was whitewashed. So did I. Several years ago, James began a mission to present biblical characters as people of color. Though his goal was not to reflect precise historical context, the result is often dramatically closer to reality than our traditional Western images. How do you feel when you see these color-corrected representations of people from the Bible? James said, I think it is very important to see ones self in the Scripture so that it may become real... While the nation has an important conversation about race, it is equally important for us to have a parallel conversation about the theological implications of ethnicity and race. See the entire Icons of the Bible series here: https://www.pinterest.com/rawnoire/icons-of-the-bible/ EDIT: Some have asked if these pictures can be acquired. 02.01.2022 Congratulations on your 50th wedding anniversary today Canon Carol and Chris.
02.01.2022 A tribute to Fr. David Mackay by his sister Heather Hugo: Congratulations dearest brother on your 50 th anniversary of priesthood.I am a very proud sister and feel moved to share your story with others as an encouragement in these troubled times.Ian or David as he is mostly known is retired and living a monastic life, something he has longed to do and only now is possible. He was ordained in Lille and became a White Father, an order committed to missionary service in Africa.H...e spent many years in Mozambique,Malawi and finally in South Africa, mostly in the Transkei and Port Elizabeth dioceses .He was passionate about the suffering of The South African blacks and became very active in the freedom movement, and was a close friend of Steve Bico who died in police custody .He was also very envolved in the Charismatic revival at that time and was actively part of prayer gatherings of blacks and whites. He has a passionate love of God and told me that the message he wanted to get across, where ever he went was - God is good! .Thank you for being my mentor over these many years. 01.01.2022 LEARN YOUR PRAYERS off by heart - the shortest versions of them (as other traditions do).... Let these prayers punctuate your day. AT MIDDAY, for example, you could stop what you are doing. Soften your gaze (look away from your screen or desk or whatever), breathe gently, relax your shoulders and jaw, then pray: In the name of God whom Jesus knew intimately. In the name of Jesus who has become for us the Christ. In the name of Gods Spirit mysterious, benevolent, beautiful and holy. Amen. Lord, I choose to be an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love. Where there is darkness, light... (Sign yourself with the Cross as you conclude with these words): In the name of God whom Jesus knew intimately. In the name of Jesus who has become for us the Christ. In the name of Gods Spirit mysterious, benevolent, beautiful and holy. Amen. Then return to your day! Postscript: Let us wean ourselves off of becoming too reliant on online presentations, prayers, guided meditations and liturgies. Nothing stops you from praying at least 3 or 5 times a day. Short prayers prayed by heart.
01.01.2022 Lovely introduction to the Bible.
01.01.2022 This is Dean Frank Nelson from St. Peters Cathedral, Adelaide as he celebrates in an empty cathedral with only Viva, the Cathedral cat present in the congregation. Listen carefully!
