17.01.2022 During their last few Mathematics classes for the term, Year 6 students have been doing an audit on the most prolific trees in the bush surrounding Palmer Oval. They learnt how to identify the different species of trees by looking at bark types, flowers, leaf shapes and fruit or nuts as well as researched about the background on the trees and the purpose they play for surrounding wildlife. The students made a tally counting the different trees in a sample area (one-fifth of the total bushland) and calculated the density of the bush based on the size of the sample area. They thought it was the best mathematics investigation ever!

10.01.2022 Ryan Shaw plays Dallas in the upcoming Secondary Production, 'The Outsiders'. Dallas is a character who has taken the idea of being a 'tough guy' to his core. He is extremely protective of his friends, Pony and Johnny, wanting to save them from going through what he went through when he went to jail. The problem is, Dallas believes where he went wrong is that he got caught not what he did. He attempts to teach his young friends his own skewed ideology believing it will save t...hem from suffering, but really it leads Dallas straight to it. "This year’s production has been the most intense juggling act I have ever taken part in. Since the play has been moved to later in the year, every single rehearsal clashes with something. The schedule has been so random that the cast has had to work really hard to remember blocking and keep a proper work flow. Through this though the play has been amazing, the extra effort that Mr Bancroft has had to put in has made me especially invested in it and I cannot wait. I think this year’s one is really special and it will be one hell of a time". For more information on the production and to purchase tickets, visit our website: https://www.bcgs.wa.edu.au/the-outsiders-production/
