25.01.2022 Members of the City of Bunbury Youth Advisory Council learned some of the finer skills of croquet today before challenging each other on the lawns. Thanks for the visit! Hope we see you again soon for another challenge.

24.01.2022 Christmas, Centrals style. I will say, good clubs are noted for their kitchen operations. Ours is slick, sleek and smooth. And the food that comes out .......... well, you be the judge. Miss out today? Don’t despair. For $10 tomorrow (Sunday) night you too can share in the leftovers, AND play croquet in the balmy summer air, by the Leschenault Inlet. What else would you do on Sunday night? Come any time after 5pm.

23.01.2022 This was the view from our club’s BBQ area last night. BBQ, good company, good croquet and free fireworks show! Makes for a very convivial Sunday evening.

22.01.2022 Christmas at croquet clubs are always special. Here’s some pics of ours recently.

22.01.2022 We are in need of some technical lawn help please. The photos taken this morning show about a quarter of the corella population that invade our courts morning and evening, digging up our lawns. Every. Single. Day. We are not looking for ways to cull the birds (it’s illegal). Whilst they are not native to WA, and do impact our local native birds with their aggressive flock behaviour, we are only after imaginative ways to keep them off our lawns. Our club provides services to many local community groups and state events. We’re keen to keep the surface playable! Is there a product we can put on our lawns that will come through the grass, making it unpalatable for the birds? A type of fertiliser that will swing the chemical balance to ‘sour’, but still be ok for lawn growth? Have other clubs had similar problems?

21.01.2022 This is Kim. Kim is the club’s groundsman. We aren’t playing croquet right now, but the grass doesn’t stop growing just because there’s a pandemic. That means ‘Someone’ has to keep mowing the courts. Every. Single. Week. Thanks Kim, and all the other club legends quietly going about club business that needs to be done behind the scenes, regardless of whether we are playing or not. Like banking, paying bills, cleaning, gardening, putting out the bin, collecting mail, phoning members to keep in touch, meeting council or fire reps for house and extinguisher inspections...........heaps! Thanks team.

21.01.2022 The club is closed tomorrow - Saturday 6th Feb - while our maintenance team catches up. Reopening Sunday 7th Feb for committee meeting at 4, followed by normal club play at 5:00pm, weather permitting. All normal club sessions will thereafter resume. Looking forward to seeing club members back on the lawns!

20.01.2022 AC State Men’s title held at ours this weekend. Congratulations to Alan Sands (winner), and Ian Dumergue (runner up). 6 clubs were represented, half metro and half country - good collection of players! Terrific food from Team Central’s kitchen kept the men going all weekend. Enjoy some pics.

20.01.2022 Congratulations Stirling Street Arts Centre! All the best for your Gala Open Day. Central Croquet Club will also host have-a-go croquet all day. https://facebook.com/events/s/gala-open-day/826778804818072/?ti=icl

20.01.2022 One of our club members - Nettley - is a local artist, who somehow manages to bring humorous insight into Life’s moments. Our club room noticeboard is adorned with gems of croquet humour. Here is the latest (welcome) addition. Thanks Nettley!

18.01.2022 The club is closed until Sunday 7th Feb, or later per health advice. We will update as the lockdown progresses. Wishing all our members good health.

15.01.2022 We had our AGM today. It was a terrific meeting, followed by a relaxed club BBQ and social play. It was lovely to see so many members attend, and so good to get back together again.

15.01.2022 2019-20 Association Croquet state singles winners. Men - Alan Sands (Como) Women - Megan Reynolds (Bunbury Central) Congratulations!

13.01.2022 Local players Kim Reynolds (Bunbury Central) and Max Woolf (Moorabinda) will join other state players next weekend, contesting the Association Croquet State Men’s title. Top A-grade play for 2 days! Come and watch the action.

13.01.2022 Clubs are special places, where great friends are made and life moments shared. Tonight our club sadly said our farewells to two much loved members. Anne and Geoff have been at Centrals just over 3 years. In that time their commitment to community through serving and giving generously has benefited our club immensely, with their warmth and humour making any club session a fun filled few hours. Anne’s attention to corporate detail has seen our club standards in this area noti...ceably lifted, and her contribution to the writing of an excellent constitution was invaluable. Geoff was our quiet giver. In all sorts of club areas, from the kitchen to the shed, there’s a bit of Geoff everywhere. Thank you both Anne and Geoff. You will be missed terribly, but we do wish you all the very best in your new exciting adventure living in Port Lincoln. See more

13.01.2022 Just leaving this here

12.01.2022 Regrettably, Bunbury Central Croquet Club has closed till It’s over. Wishing all our members and regulars continued good health.Regrettably, Bunbury Central Croquet Club has closed till It’s over. Wishing all our members and regulars continued good health.

11.01.2022 Association croquet was contested today in terrific conditions by players from Halls Head, Busselton, Perth and Bunbury clubs. Great fun was had by all players, with loads of Freddo’s given away for peg outs, peels and good play. A vibrant social tournament, the 14 point flirtatious doubles is always a huge success. Congratulations to winner John Doepel (Forrest Park) and runner up Bernie Lynch (Halls Head).

11.01.2022 Congratulations club member Megan Reynolds on her win in the AC State Mixed Doubles championship with partner Jeff Newcombe (Como) this weekend, at Nedlands.

11.01.2022 A great turnout by our members today, who enjoyed a few games on the lawns followed by a sumptuous Melbourne Cup lunch and hat parade. Congratulations to sweep winners, and outstanding hat parade participants, won by Raymond and Cheryl.

10.01.2022 Just a lovely, balmy Thursday afternoon at the club. Playing croquet in parklands, good company, plenty of laughs and great afternoon tea. Thanks City of Bunbury!

10.01.2022 Thanks to two local businesses, our courts are even better, and corella free! First up, Damian from Switchedon electrical and property maintenance supplied and installed 4 new LED lights on our courts last week at short notice, after a globe blew in one of the old style lights. We needed all 4 for the AC State Men’s on the weekend. Thanks Damian! James at Wight and Emmett is a qualified agronomist, and he solved our corella problem, inexpensively and easily. A few applications of aluminium sulphate and the birds have got the message. They don’t land on our courts at all, and the men could play on great court surfaces all weekend (after we filled all the holes). Thanks to 2 local blokes, the tournament was a success!

08.01.2022 Summer playing times: Tuesday: 5:30-8:30pm Thursday: 4-7pm Saturday: 2-5pm Sunday 5-8pm.

07.01.2022 Busy bees are terrific for all sorts of reasons. You get lots of jobs done, catch up with friends you haven’t seen for a while and have sumptuous morning tea. What’s not to love about all that? We had a busy bee on Friday to prepare the club for the AC state men’s tournament. We did all those things, and more! Well done Team Central.

06.01.2022 ‘Many hands........’. Busy bees are great for whipping the place into shape. An early start today saw much done before the heat of the day. Thanks to all who came and laboured hard, and those who rewarded the labourers with a terrific morning tea. Community in action.

04.01.2022 Is Life taking you in the wrong direction? Do something different! Our 'Come and Try' evening as part of the Bunbury Fringe Festival is on Monday 25th January, from 5:30pm. Mad Hatter croquet will put a smile on your dial.

04.01.2022 This was our lovely afternoon at the club. This is Damian installing our new stove. Happy day!

03.01.2022 The great thing about country tournaments is the gathering of players from many other country clubs around the state, to play good croquet in a super friendly environment, eat great local food, catch up with old friends and make new ones. With players from Katanning, Albany, Narrogin, Busselton, Dunsborough and Perth clubs, the social benefits of this weekend country tournament are immense. Not to mention the benefits to local Bunbury businesses and services. Thanks as always to Team Centrals for a brilliant weekend of croquet and community.
