24.01.2022 Farewell Bunbury! Unfortunately this will be my final month at the Walkley Chiropractic Group as I've been offered an incredible opportunity to work as a Sports Chiropractor in Perth at The Wellness Place Bassendean! My final day is Thursday October 11.... Thank you to all the amazing people and sports clubs I've had the opportunity to work with and play for. It's been a fun ride the last 2.5 years, I will miss the South West! Watch this space as I may still make casual appearances in Bunbury. And if you're ever in Perth, please swing by and say hi!

23.01.2022 Do you sit most of the day? A poorly set up chair could be why your low back is sore! Here's a brief guideline on how to set up your chair:
20.01.2022 Interesting article on slowing down disc degeneration: Side note: Disc degeneration happens to all of us, regardless of how fit, active, or healthy you are. What's important is how you SLOW DOWN the rate of degeneration. If we don't take care of our spines, the discs may degenerate faster.
20.01.2022 Thank you NSW! It was a fun few days at the Australian Junior Beach Volleyball Championships. Also glad to have caught up with some coaches and familiar faces. Thanks for bringing high level volleyball to Bunbury!

19.01.2022 Australian Junior Beach Volleyball Championships here in Bunbury! Before moving to Bunbury, I was previously the therapist for the NSW team in the Australian Volleyball League. This week I’ve had the amazing opportunity to help out the juniors from NSW. It’s always fun and exciting to work with young aspiring athletes.... Make sure you come down to Koombana to see some high level junior volleyball from some of the best young players in the country. They are here till Sunday!
16.01.2022 If back pain starts up during a run, should you keep running?
16.01.2022 'Get the whole picture. Imaging only tells you a small part. Would you take a picture of your phone or computer to learn why it’s not functioning?' What that means is that imaging doesn't tell the whole story. For example, an image may show torn rotator cuff muscles in the shoulder but the patient may have absolutely no symptoms at all! Meaning that their shoulder is absolutely fine and would not require surgery or treatment even though the image has shown muscles to be torn. So if you have an image, make sure you still have a proper assessment of your injury and don't solely rely on the image itself for a diagnosis.
14.01.2022 Final 2 weeks! Last day: Oct 11 As I wrap up my final 2 weeks here in Bunbury, I want to thank everyone again for all the supportive messages. In the upcoming weeks, I'll be posting some good content on my new page: Steve Lee - Perth Sports Chiropractor... There will be some great videos of some of the sports-related work I'll be doing with elite athletes in Perth so make sure you 'Like' our new page! This is also where you can reach me in the future. Thank you once again and all the best!
11.01.2022 Treat the person, not the scan! Scans such as ultrasound, MRI, CT are important but patients often don't improve until we've properly assessed their injury. What does this mean? I'll explain with an example. Patients often come in and describe their low back pain as a result of a disc bulge that was diagnosed years and years ago. They've seen every other practitioner to the moon and back but their back pain keeps coming back because of this disc bulge that hasn't resolved.... Well here's the problem...disc bulges don't actually cause any pain! In the picture shown below, the 2015 study found 87% of people have a disc bulge but NO PAIN! Unfortunately patients are often referred to have an image of their back and due to outdated information, they've been told that their on-going low back pain is because of this disc bulge that doesn't go away. So what does this mean for YOU? Scans are important but you need to have your injury properly assessed. We spend 30 minutes with our new patients to evaluate their injury and determine whether what we see on the scan is actually relevant because sometimes it's not! If patients get hung on a WRONG diagnosis, that's usually when they go through weeks of treatment without any results.
10.01.2022 Pain at the back of the ankle or lower calf may signal a problem with an Achilles tendon. Athletes who participate in track and field, soccer, volleyball, softball, and racquet sports, such as tennis, are particularly susceptible

05.01.2022 Thank you to The Rink Pty Ltd - it's the place to skate in Bunbury! We spent a morning with State and National level skaters talking about injury prevention. A few important take-away points: - a dynamic warm-up before exercise is more effective than static stretching... - hip mobility and core stability are vital for prevention of knee and low back injuries - peaking at the right times (ie. managing training load so you perform your best at important State/National trials & competitions) Make sure you get down there and give it a go, it's great fun!
03.01.2022 Back in clinic! It was a fast, action filled 2 weeks in Canada and I can’t believe it’s over already! It was amazing catching up with family and friends though. Here’s some photos from our trip!
03.01.2022 Consider these 3 things before purchasing a new pair of walking shoes.
01.01.2022 You don’t have to break a sweat to reap the health benefits of physical activity, according to new research in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society. In a study of women age 65 and older, just 30 minutes a day of light exerciselike running errands and cleaning the housewas linked to a lower risk of death. Moderate-intensity exercise, like leisurely bike riding or brisk walking, was associated with an even greater reduction in risk. The authors say that improving doing more light and moderate physical activity could be almost as effective as rigorous exercise at preventing disease and prolonging life. The paradigm needs to shift when we think about being active, says senior author Andrea LaCroix, professor of family medicine and public health at the University of California San Diego.
