24.01.2022 IF YOU DIDN'T MAKE IT TO THE LAST COMMUNITY MEETING - HERE IS AN UPDATE AND I HOPE TO SEE YOU AT THE NEXT MEETING - PLEASE SEE THE EVENT SET UP FOR THE NEXT MEETING. City Representatives and Community Members attended a kick-off planning meeting on the 18th August and it was awesome to see so many keen to support the project. Special thanks to the Withers Progress Association for hosting us.... The Coordinator Parks and Reserves provided some positive news about the future water allocations which should include reticulation provisions for the park (still about 12 18 months away). In addition, it was confirmed that the park has been incorporated with the broader Public Open Space Strategy with a recommendation to develop a masterplan for the whole reserve area in the future. We identified the priority actions moving forward to achieve some short term improvements and it was awesome to see everyone get involved with suggestions. Here is the list of short terms actions that we identified that we can work together to achieve: Improve access into the park (e.g. entry gates) especially for seniors, people with disabilities and pram access. Improve vehicle access and visibility coming off Parade Road. Improve water access for dogs. Additional fencing to enable two separate dog areas. Dog exercise equipment. Landscaping improvements, including repairing areas under the benches. Improve all weather shade options. Notice board to share information and conditions for using the park. Increase support for responsible dog ownership. Responsibilities were allocated to volunteers to follow up the following organisations for potential resources: City of Bunbury Departments Don Punch Small business (including T&V Fencing, Stratco, Bridgestone Tyres) Industry (including Iluka and Piacentini & Son) Pet Shops Vets Men’s Shed RSL Department of Justice Mental Health Agencies. We also identified a range of other local governments to contact to seek advice. We are now investigating the various opportunities and will reconvene to share information and identify a draft design and budget. This draft design and budget will allow us to confirm financial and in-kind support for the project to start the works. 16.01.2022 Hi everybody for those that were asking for the exact address for the community meeting it is 1 Wilkerson Way, Withers. If you turn into Wilkerson Way it is a no through road, drive to the end of it and you will see the Wither‘s Progress Association building right in front of you.
