25.01.2022 On behalf our club we would like to send our Heartfelt condolences and Sympathy to Betty McDonalds family. Betty was a lifetime member of our club, who spent so many hours volunteering as a radio operator.I am sure many of our past and present members will remember her warm and friendly hello on the radio. You will be sorely missed. RIP Betty.

24.01.2022 COLLIE RIVER FISH KILL Fisheries and the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation are investigating a mass fish kill along the Collie River, near Aust...ralind. Several hundred fish including mostly black bream, whiting, taylor, yellow-eyed mullet and puffer fish were reported dead on April 23. According to Fisheries recent rain and high tides could have contributed to the deaths but water samples will undergo lab testing to determine the cause. People are urged not to swim or fish in the area, not to collect dead fish as bait and not to let pets or other animals in the area. DPIRD
24.01.2022 Good news this week
23.01.2022 Hi everyone with the ongoing covid 19 going on, the fishing club is on hold for all comps and events. As for the memberships that have been paid, we will make a decision when we can all meet again and see how much of the year is left. Please be safe and stay at home as much as you can. Together we are stronger but apart we must be. So from all the committee members please be safe and think of others
19.01.2022 Southwest Catches supplied by Acram southwest and Rae Thorp BOATS When conditions permitted to head out from the west coast, crews did not have to travel far to find quality reef fish, with catches of dhufish, pink snapper and breaksea coming from less than 20m of water at times. This seems to have been the case whether the boats have been launching from Hamelin Bay, Gnarabup or Cowaramup Bay. Pink snapper and dhuies have been found in less than 10m of water within Geographe ...Bay. The water clarity may need to increase in close before squid start getting caught in big numbers again along the seagrass off Quindalup. SHORE BASED Pink snapper were caught along the Geographe Bay beaches, especially those between Siesta Park and the Busselton Jetty, during and following the recent storm. Salmon continue to be caught along the west coast and within Geographe Bay. Spots where the 3kg to 7kg fish were caught this past week included Hamelin Bay, Injidup, Smiths Beach and Bunker Bay. Herring remain in very good numbers along both sides of the coast.
19.01.2022 Canceled due to weather and no entries the March monthly comp wont run this weekend
18.01.2022 Hey everyone I got this of the Acram page hope your all having a good long weekend don’t forget to be safe and have fun Southwest Catches BOATS... Crews may not need to travel too far out in search of pink snapper following the recent storm following reports of fish to 10kg caught in less than 4m of water within Geographe Bay just after the previous cold front passed. Dhufish have also been found in relatively shallow water within the bay. Conditions may need to settle somewhat before squid appear around the seagrass in big numbers again. Blue swimmer crabs are ordinarily caught within the bay in good numbers after the wind blows hard from the north. SHORE BASED Pink snapper were caught from the Geographe Bay beaches, especially those located towards Busselton, during the recent period of stormy weather. When conditions settle, the west coast beaches may also be worth trying for pink snapper following reports of fish in the 4kg to 8kg range caught from the beaches and rock platforms in calm weather during the past couple of weeks. Salmon continue to be caught from the west coast and Geographe Bay beaches and there are still plenty of herring as well as some big skippy around.

14.01.2022 DHUIES, PINKIES AND BALDIES' HEADS WANTED FOR STOCK ASSESSMENT Good news, recfishers in case you missed it - Department of Primary Industries and Regiona...l Development - DPIRD's Send Us Your Skeletons campaign is now accepting large west coast demersal fish heads to help fisheries scientists assess the health of our fish stocks. So, if you love to keep your fish frames for the barbie or burley, you can help out with DPIRD's stock assessment by donating dhuie, pinkie or baldy heads and still go in the draw to win a charter fishing trip of a lifetime to the magnificent Montebello Islands!!! We all see plenty of photos of big dhuies and pinkies regularly posted online - and who wouldn't to share snaps of their great catch!? However, big demersal frames don't appear to be showing up in any numbers in DPIRDs research samples. The good news is that DPIRD is now accepting the heads of large demersals for sampling, as well as the skeletons, so you can keep your frames and wings for the barbie and burley pot if you choose. As well as doing your bit to help ensure theres plenty of demersals for the future, when you donate your frames/heads (herring, whiting and tailor frames are also wanted) you will go in to a draw to win the star prize provided by Montebello Island Safaris, as well as quarterly prizes of ripper rod/reel combis donated by Recfishwest. If you want to donate big fish heads or your frames to the SUYS campaign, find out how here: https://bit.ly/38xDOGp
