25.01.2022 Ok we are showing off a little bit.... but how lucky are we at BSHS....... this is how we spend our lunch, overlooking the ocean from our beautiful amphitheatre listening to students and staff showing off their musical talents. What a glorious day!

25.01.2022 We are excited to announce our new sport shirt! This shirt has been in the design phase for some time now and we are very pleased with the final product. Local indigenous artist, Cody Bell was commissioned for the artistic design which represents the three waters of Bunbury (Leschenault Inlet, Koombana Bay and the Indian Ocean) coming together. We will advise our school community when this is available for purchase which will be sometime during Term 1.

23.01.2022 Clothing can not be recycled through household recycling and uniforms with logos should not be donated to charity shops. Most of the time used uniforms sit in the back of wardrobes collecting dust or make their way to landfill. Why not reuse and reduce waste by donating old uniforms back to the school? If you have any BSHS shirts, jackets and suitable unbranded pants/shorts, please drop them off to the Admin Office during opening times as Student Services utilise these uniforms throughout the year. #sustainability #reduce #reuse #recycle

21.01.2022 #Bunbury is a beautiful place to live and learn. To ensure your wonderful city by the sea is here for the years to come, staff and students have been focusing on a sustainable future for all, and most recently is the sustainable future of the beloved South West parrot - the Carnaby Cockatoos. As students prepared for the Year 11 Photography Exhibition, custom build display units made from recycled pallets were created. After the exhibition, rather than disposing of the un...its, students rebuilt them into Parrot Boxes. These nesting boxes will be installed at key locations around the South West region where White-Tailed and Red-Tailed Carnaby Cockatoo frequent. Well done to Year 10s Isaac, Jake, Connor and Jacob for disassembled the pallets and to Kirby, Peppa and Brandon for helped to construct and finish the first parrot box. Congratulations to D&T teacher, Mr Turnbull, for his guidance on this worthy project.

From yummy treats to tie-dye shirts, customers were spoiled for choice. Students developed their real-world skills by taking out a loan which had to be paid back, including fees for utilities. This year students were also encouraged to think about sustainable products to reduce the use of single-use plastic. Year 10 VASP students also created products ...for sale as part of their entrepreneur studies. Well done to all the students and staff involved Public education in Western Australia

08.01.2022 As our Year 12's get ready to finish the last of their high school journey, the crew from Red Frogs Western Australia came to talk about leavers week. Red Frogs recognises that the culture of young people is dominated by alcohol. In situations such as Schoolies/Leavers Week, excessive consumption of alcohol and other substances means that things can often get out of hand and potentially alter the direction of a young person’s future. Their volunteers act as the eyes and ears ...in accommodation venues and out on the streets, providing a positive peer presence to school leavers. Our students were armed with advice on how to contact the Red Frogs team should they require support during leavers. From how to support you or your friend if in trouble, to how to keep your accommodation clean and tidy all week. Plus, many Allen's Lollies Red Frogs were handed out throughout the talk! As a parent, check out Red Frogs FAQs for parents page: https://redfrogs.com.au//informa/parent-faqs-for-schoolies

08.01.2022 This awesome mirror was created by Shedworks student Izak. Izak is pictured here with proud new owner Ms Barrett. The mirror was made from donated tiles and wood and after finishing the mirror, Izak was inspired to enquire about work placement with a local tiling company. Good luck Izak! The money from this purchase goes back to the Shedworks program to provide products and tools for the other projects for students to work on.

01.01.2022 Congratulations to Holly for making it through to the next level of National History Challenge. The National History Challenge is a research-based competition for students. It gives students a chance to be an historian, researching world history, examining Australia’s past, investigating their community or exploring their own roots. It emphasises and rewards quality research, the use of community resources and effective presentation. This year's theme is 'Contested Histories'... and Holly focussed on The Haitian Revolution. "This essay covers the Haitian Revolution, a historically significant event often forgotten or dismissed. It analyses elements of contestability, providing insight into how history can be interpreted in several ways, and exploring whether there were multiple revolutions, the connection to the French Revolution, overall aims and how positive it was."
