25.01.2022 Just a few photos from our reopening after COVID-19 shutdown.

25.01.2022 One for the guild page. Safety reminder. Noel finishing off finnial for bowl he was making. Lifted his face shield to scratch his nose. Nek minit timber flew off the chuck strait into the side f his nose. Much blood and one broken nose layered lesson learned. He did say just as well it didn’t his visor or it would have cracked it. Lol

23.01.2022 A huge shout out & thank you to Rennie, Keith C, Graeme, Bob, Keith H, & Steve. The new timber rack is finished.

21.01.2022 Gilles has been trying something a little different.

20.01.2022 It was an exciting day yesterday visiting all the key stakeholders for the CQ Shopfront Artisan in Residency project with Ipswich designer/maker Marc Harrison. ... Marc's history of working with macadamia shells is evolving into a project utilising macadamia timber as part of this residency. We visited the Bundaberg Woodworkers Guild in the morning and met with some highly skilled members to look at their facilities. We then had the privilege of touring the new Macadamias Australia Visitors' Centre currently under construction with Janelle Gerry and Sophie Steinhardt. Macadamias Australia are a valued sponsor of this project and are offering some wonderful opportunities for our community. The ever enthusiastic team at Community Lifestyle Support took us on a tour of their Makerspace that will be the home base for Marc for his residency. Up to 6 mentees will get to collaborate with Marc in this space and experience the facilities and equipment that the Makerspace has on offer. At the end of the day we wrapped up our visits at the Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery, meeting with Gallery Director Rebecca McDuff where Marc will deliver an Artist Talk and have a display in the Gallery Shop during his residency. Stay tuned for more information on how to engage with this opportunity.

20.01.2022 Interesting morning. Thank you to Gemma who donated her Olive trees to the Guild from her property at Wonbah. Very nice timber. A return visit is in the cards before the trees are bulldozed.

20.01.2022 You can’t make beautiful things until all the hard, technical and dirty work has been done to prepare the materials. And this process is mostly uncelebrated, an...d when you are dealing with Macadamia wood, a boutique material largely misunderstood, it’s a process with unmeasurable hurdles. But today I got to spend time with Keith, Steve, Graham and other artisans at the Bundaberg Wood Workers Guild to learn from them and to help unravel the complexities of this amazing local resource. They also have a resident Magpie, ) Project: CQ Shopfront Artist in Residence, Director: Shelley Pisani, Wood Supplier: Macadamias Australia, Workshop: Wood Workers Guild Bundaberg #husque @cqshopfront @macadamias_australia @theideasdistillery #macadamias #mymagpie @ Bundaberg, Queensland

Big thanks go to Greg Morris and his great team of wood workers for producing the latest timber models of the German locomotive (GERMANY). These will make a great addition to the other units such as Bundy Fowler and INVICTA. These will go on sale when Germany commences Operations.

05.01.2022 A rare sighting at the Guild today...lucky to get the shot....

05.01.2022 Sonya has been extremely busy. Finally finished. ( Never going to paint stripes ever again).

04.01.2022 A new sit-down lathe has made woodturning at Bundaberg Woodworkers Guild even more accessible, with the organisation using a $4000 community grant from Bundaberg Regional Council to purchase the lathe.

04.01.2022 These photos come from another group. New to woodturning person wanting to make a bowl without proper training. This is what happens when you use a spindle roug...hing gouge when you try to use it cutting across the grain on a bowl blank. Then instead of taking ownership, and responsibility of their mistake, they blame the manufacturer, cheap metal or it hasn't been heat treated properly. This once again shows that spindle exercises are the first part of learning wood turning before even attempting a basic bowl let alone like one shown in the picture.

03.01.2022 Just a reminder that fractal burning will not discriminate

02.01.2022 Noel has been very busy over the past weeks. Some more of his great Turnings.
