21.01.2022 An enjoyable day was had for all of our members who took part in the Bundaberg Regional Council’s, Seniors Celebrate - Let’s Reconnect event held last month. Our members gave many demonstrations throughout the day from repotting and separating bromeliads, dividing and repotting Anthuriums, making a succulent and a seedling display to propagating cuttings. We hope we had some good advice to offer and that you enjoyed it as much as we did.

20.01.2022 What a great August Field Day Members had when we met up again after so many many months. It was a perfect Winters day with a hint of Spring not far away. As usual Judy’s garden was so beautiful and there were lots of out of the ordinary plants to see. Thankyou Judy for stepping up to host our field day at short notice, it’s always wonderful to visit your lovely garden.
19.01.2022 It is always a pleasure to visit Malcolm and Lorna’s beautiful garden, so it was the perfect place to have our November/ Christmas field day. Their garden has plenty of colour and those caladiums are amazing. . Like so many clubs many events for the year were cancelled but our gardens have benefited from the stay at home and the TLC. Malcom and Lorna’s garden is proof of this and we thank them for hosting the clubs last field day for 2020. It was a most enjoyable morning.

13.01.2022 The Bundaberg Bush House and Garden Club were fortunate to hold their first field day for the year on February 13th at the Johnson’s beautiful acreage garden. A large number of members attended eager to start off the clubs gardening year and to catch up and compare recent rainfall recordings to date after such a very very dry 2019. As usual Val’s garden looked spectacular, and is a real credit to her. There is nothing better than browsing through this garden and shade houses that show what is truly a labour of love. Thanks Val and Johno, it was a lovely morning and great company.

11.01.2022 Wow, what a way to finish the year last Saturday with a well attended and very enjoyable Christmas luncheon at The Rowers Club . And our last/ November night meeting for the year with a record of 112 plants tabled for our popular plant competition. It was quite a sight, plants were beautifully presented and a huge variety, however the Desert Roses stole the show with 16 entries followed by 15 entries in the foliage section, and a stand out display of Caladiums. Our Club will meet next on the 28th January 2021 at The Avenell Heights Hall at 7pm. New members most welcome. Meanwhile let’s hope the heavens open up and our gardens get a much needed good drenching. Merry Christmas everyone and our Club is looking forward to a fun and more eventful new year.
11.01.2022 A recent bus trip was enjoyed by members and guests of the Bundaberg Bush House and Garden Club when we travelled to Hervey Bay for the day. Our first stop was the Botanical Gardens where we were greeted by members from the Hervey Bay Garden Club for a delicious morning tea. And then to the magnificent Orchid House, WOW there was plenty to love in this shade house. We visited two local nurseries and three home gardens in all and again were spoilt with afternoon tea. Thankyou Hervey Bay Garden Club for your hospitality and arranging a great day for us, it was most enjoyable.
09.01.2022 It was a hot and humid November morning when Members and Guests met for our November field day at my garden at Tantitha. It was our last field day for 2019. With a total lack of rain gardening has not been without its challenges and we thank all the hosts who have welcomed us to their beautiful gardens throughout the year. Hopefully good rain fall isn’t too far away. I will share some photos around my garden.
09.01.2022 Our September field day started at 9am with a convoy of cars and our destination was Coonarr to Val Honeywood’s residence. It was very evident that Val’s passion is her many bromeliads. She said there are thousands of species and I’m sure she has many thousands in her two huge greenhouses. Billbergia’s are Val’s favourite and she even calls one of her greenhouses the Billy House. Val shared her vast knowledge of bromeliads with us and demonstrated how she extracts fertilised seed from the seed pods of a Billbergia. Thankyou Val for hosting our field day. It was most enjoyable and we certainly learnt a thing or two about bromeliads.
04.01.2022 If you missed last nights meeting of the Bundaberg Bush House and Garden Club you missed out on seeing a record number of 114 plants tabled for our monthly popular plant competition. It was hard picking winners. A few photos to share.
