23.01.2022 The Department of Transport and Main Roads advises the Burnett Traffic Bridge in Bundaberg will be closed temporarily for works on 25 October and 8-12 November. The 25 October closure will be from 6am to 4pm for ongoing rehabilitation works. The 8-12 November night closure from 8pm to 5am is for an annual routine inspection and servicing works.... While the bridge is temporarily closed, a detour route via Tallon Bridge will be signposted to assist motorists with the changed conditions. Pedestrian access across the bridge will remain available while the works are under way.

22.01.2022 Fencing for the Botanic Gardens playground is one of four projects being rolled out in the precinct to improve safety for children and families. The projects began this week and work will be staggered over a number of months to minimise disruption for park users. Much of the work will address those concerns, with fencing to be installed between the nature playground and the internal access road, creating a secure barrier on three sides of the play area.

19.01.2022 Stormwater will be channelled to Baldwin Swamp and the Burnett River from Belle Eden Estate using an innovative naturalisation method. The Belle Eden Park Waterway Naturalisation project will capture and treat stormwater runoff while providing a a naturalised area for the community to enjoy.

19.01.2022 Footpath and parking improvements will be delivered in Elliott Heads over coming weeks to make the journey to school safer for students and families. The two separate projects will see a section of the Breusch Road footpath replaced and will transform the front of the school for safer access. Council crews will start on the replacement of the Breusch Road footpath between Welch and Shine streets in early November.

For many years, we’ve had fabulous performers visit us from our Sister City, Nanning and it’s always been great to experience these incredible musical, dance and acrobatic performances. 18.01.2022 Bundaberg Regional Council has extended COVID-relief measures for some airport tenants until the end of 2020. A report presented at yesterday's Council meeting showed that commercial operations inside the terminal continue to suffer revenue losses because of reduced flights. As part of the Mayor’s COVID-relief package earlier this year, Council assisted commercial tenants at the airport by waiving aviation charges and rent for six months ending 30 September 2020, which has now been extended.

14.01.2022 The work of 27 artists from the Bundaberg Region is being displayed at Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery as part of the HERE+Now exhibition which opened today! The exhibition encompasses painting, drawing, photography, digital and sculptural works and explores the relationships between these artists and the cultural landscape of the region. The HERE+Now exhibition opens to the public from Friday, 30 October and runs through until 17 January.

12.01.2022 Bin collection Your bin collection will continue as normal throughout the festive season. Even if your bin day falls on a public holiday, our dedicated waste and recycling team (including Adrian here) will still collect it, so be sure to give them a wave as they come by! Collection runs will start earlier than normal throughout the festive season so we ask that you please place your bins on the kerbside for collection the night before. It’s also a big help if you can spac...e bins about one metre apart. Waste facilities All Council waste facilities will also operate as normal during the festive season, including on public holidays, except Christmas day. On December 25, the Bundaberg Waste Facility, located on University Drive, will be the only facility operating and will be open from 7 am to noon. Remember to separate your load, it helps make a trip to the tip run smoothly! Recycled goods shops All recycled goods shops will be closed on December 25 and 26. 11.01.2022 A new sit-down lathe has made woodturning at Bundaberg Woodworkers Guild even more accessible, with the organisation using a $4000 community grant from Bundaberg regional Council to purchase a sit-down lathe. The modern sit-down lathe would enable people in a wheelchair to access machinery they were not able to use before, while also being beneficial for all members.

This is Cr Trevor's third consecutive appointment and after navigating the challenges of 2020 will lead the RDA Wide Bay Burnett to drive investment and local procurement opportunities to create jobs and economic growth for our regions. 08.01.2022 A community tree planting which saw about 500 trees added to Baldwin Swamp Environmental Park has officially launched the One Million Trees Bundaberg program. Earlier in the year Council set an ambitious target of planting one million trees in four years to offset emissions, improve livability and benefit the environment. 03.01.2022 The Turtle Park at Bargara will be closed for unscheduled maintenance from today. A recent inspection identified a need to urgently replace some of the soft fall surrounding the playground. The new soft fall will be installed immediately and it is expected that the playground will once again be open to the public by Saturday. Council thanks residents in advance for their understanding while this essential work is carried out.

02.01.2022 Higher than usual demand in Gin Gin is currently exceeding our ability to treat and supply water: - There has been a sudden increase in consumption overnight and residents are using more than what can be supplied - The tanks which supply the town would normally recover and refill overnight but the demand has meant they have not been able to recover as they normally would - We understand that it is warm outside but we are urging residents to moderate their water use as much... as possible and limit non-essential water use - Council’s water services team is exploring options to resolve this - In the meantime standpipes supplied by this water scheme will be disconnected so that no commercial operators are accessing this water See more
