23.01.2022 Nick Olsen is a Brisbane artist who has exhibited in Australia and internationally for over 30 years. Nicks studio is beneath his raised Queenslander so it is easy access for a range of animalian friends. Nick loves having animals around, probably as a result of growing up on a dairy farm. His two studio dogs are Rosie (blue healer) and Toulouse (Dalmatian) and they love the cool of his shady studio floor. This painting is of the studio dogs plus some feathered visitors, ...Belgian Duccle bantams and Wyandotte chickens which Nick breeds. They like to visit the studio and join Nick for lunch. This gorgeous work is currently on display at the Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery in the FOUND! Studio Dog exhibition. 14.01.2022 Robert Brownhall is a Brisbane based painter who is represented by Philip Bacon Galleries. We are proud to have Roberts amazing artwork, Painter in the Sun, displayed in the current FOUND! Studio Dog Exhibition. "Painting has always been a great meditation for me. I paint from drawings and use imagination and memory to bring the story to life. When I was three, in 1971, I nearly drowned in a creek in Bundaberg. This has left me with subconscious memories that I have been pa...inting for three decades. I was revived under Ocean Court in a car park. As an adult I went on to paint scores of 1960s style beach units. The warm light, the strong shadows and the strangely shaped trees tell the story of how it felt to pulled up into the sunshine out of the cold water, and revived. The imaginary person in the painting is a version of myself. In a strange way I feel as though a life ended in the water and then my life began." Roberts two studio companions are Dachshunds Basil and Chippy, and toy Dachshund sent by his grandparents after his childhood accident. To view this painting and many more exquisite artworks, visit the Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery 1 Barolin Street. Open: Monday to Friday 9.30am to 5.00pm and Saturday + Sunday 10:00am to 2:00pm. We are also excited to announce that the Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery will presenting a solo Robert Brownhall exhibition next year! 12.01.2022 lostinmylies by Year 10 student, Darcy from St Luke's Anglican School traverses through the story of time that we are living. The skull teases us as it lulls our brains into fearing what is coming up on the next page. It gives the message that we will ultimately become lost in our artificiality and will consequently lose ourselves over the course of the story. lostinmylies subsequently morphs into an examination of the transparency and the simultaneous omnipresence and insign...ificance of time. We get lost in the lies we live, but after time has run its course, we are left as bones, clinging to whatever will harbour our diseased minds. ~ Darcy, lostinmylies, 2020, installation, Year 10, St Luke's Anglican School. ~ Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery Gallery 1 + The Vault 1 Barolin Street Mon to Fri 9.30am 5.00pm and Sat + Sun 10.00am 2.00pm FREE entry all welcome! ~ #brgemerge2020 St Luke's Bundaberg See more

11.01.2022 Artist studio pods which emulate home studios, have been installed at Childers Arts Space for the current Art as an Act Of Optimism exhibition. This featured studio pod, contains the beautiful works of local artist Jennifer McDuff. Let me begin by saying my studio is NEVER this neat but it is the most wonderful luxury to have a purpose-built shed-studio. It has everything I need in it: the art materials; perfect lighting; art books; music and all of the ephemera that seem...s to be incorporated into my shelf paintings. In these artworks, exhibited in the artist pod, the long narrow format becomes my stage, as in the Shakespeare quote All the worlds a stage and men and women merely players: they have their exits and their entrances; and one man in his time plays many parts, his acts being seven ages." 04.01.2022 In the foreground of the visual feast that is the FOUND! Studio Dog exhibition, you can see some amazing, sculptural works by local artist, John Olsen. John has been making works for over 30 years in Bundaberg. Early onhe transitioned from working with marble, to granite, and then to metal. Years of trials with technique followed, especially finessing the colouration of titanium, finding just the right touch. The accuracy of form shows in the head shapes of Johns subjects,... especially in his marine life pieces. Johns first dog was Lassie. His second, Daisy, was a little black kelpie-bitsa. She used to follow him everywhere not always invited! The FOUND! Studio Dog exhibition is currently on display in Gallery One of the Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery.
