25.01.2022 Happy holidays everyone. We look forward to seeing you all again when school returns on Tuesday 6th October.

23.01.2022 We are continuing with our Changing Earth unit in STEAM and the students have been learning all about our wonderful Earth we live on. Primary students learnt about Earthquakes and had a go at building a structure to withstand an earthquake. Junior students learnt about night and day and they loved the marble run activity, lots of fine motor and problem solving skills needed. Senior students are continuing to learn about the Spheres of Earth and Secondary are learning about what happens to our Earth during disasters.

22.01.2022 Remember to collect your child’s medication from school before the holidays and ensure it’s stored correctly at home. Check the expiry dates before taking medications back to school after the holidays. www.nps.org.au/consumers/managing-your-medicines The school office will be open Thursday 10th and Friday the 11th December from 8am to 4pm

21.01.2022 Today our year 6's graduated. We wish them well as they begin their new journey into high school.

21.01.2022 Senior student Curtis has been attending the STAR program at East Coast Apprenticeships as part of his work experience this year. Last Thursday Curtis completed his placement achieving a Certificate of Participation. Curtis learnt many valuable skills whilst attending this program in administration duties. Congratulations Curtis for your achievement and for being a fantastic representative for Bundaberg Special School.

21.01.2022 Today is Jersey Day! We celebrated yesterday by wearing our favourite footy jersey to raise awareness for the Donate Life network and encourage people to begin the conversation with family and friends about organ donation. Registering as a donor can help save or transform the lives of those who need a transplant. Don't take your organs to heaven, heaven knows we need them here.

18.01.2022 On Wednesday 26th August, we held our Auslan information session for parents and carers. It was a great session, detailing our school's journey of implementing Auslan as a LOTE, and sharing knowledge of the Auslan language. Our Auslan teacher Ms Robyn, and ALM Ms Jo-Anne demonstrated what the Primary and Secondary students have been learning over the term. Thank you to the parents and carers that attended the session. It was exciting to hear and see your enthusiasm for supporting your child to learn another language.

17.01.2022 It is that time of year again, where we are appealing to everyone’s giving spirit and seeking support from you all for donations for our P&C Christmas raffle. To make our raffle a success, we are asking for donations of non-perishable food/Christmas hamper items, unused gifts or regrettable purchases, which can be brought to the school office for the hamper prize. Tickets will be sent home to families and staff at the beginning of term 4. Due to Covid-19, this raffle will be our only fund raiser for the P&C for 2020. Funds raised by the P&C are used to improve facilities & resources at our school to benefit our students. Your generosity and support is very much appreciated.

16.01.2022 Disability Action Week will be celebrated this week from the 13th to 19th September. The week acknowledges the important and varied contributions people living with a disability make to our state. The week also aims to empower people with disability, raise awareness of disability issues, and improve access and inclusion throughout the wider community. This years theme is Access-ability - making things better for everyone. The theme focuses on improving access in key areas of everyday life to release untapped creativity and potential that benefits the whole community.

12.01.2022 Covid couldn't stop these travellers today at our Around the World Celebration of Learning. Students enjoyed travelling around the world through music, activities and food including a feast of baked potatoes with toppings from lots of different countries.

12.01.2022 Swimming has been fantastic this term, the children have had a wonderful time. It has been so great to see the improved confidence with the students. A big shout out to the staff and the way they have worked together to make swimming such a fun and rewarding experience for everyone.

12.01.2022 The focus in the garden this term has been to use personal and social skills while working in small teams to complete our tasks. There has been plenty of opportunities for turn taking, following instructions, engaging with their peers, problem solving and making choices while watering, planting seedlings, mulching and harvesting produce. However, the final project for each sector was to work together to design and build a scarecrow. Junior sector agreed on a ‘happy’ scarecrow, Primary had to have Harry Potter, Secondary chose the lovable Shrek, while Senior decided Pennywise would keep the undesirables out of our garden. Happy gardening from the team.

11.01.2022 A fabulous night was had by all at our Year 12 Formal Dinner held last night. There was lots of smiles, music and dancing as they celebrated the end of their schooling. Congratulations all, you all looked amazing.

11.01.2022 Junior sector enjoyed playing the 5 for sun safety game in Health and Wellbeing. Slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen, slap on a hat, seek shade and slide on sunnies!! Important to do when you spend time outside.

10.01.2022 Year 10 VET students have been looking at the Work Safely unit. Identifying and controlling hazards, selecting and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and following safety procedures have been the focus in lessons. Students have put these practises into action while completing some routine tasks on the school farm.

08.01.2022 As promised Mr Rob is wearing an elegant red dress from 'Review'

08.01.2022 Wishing everyone a safe summer holiday and we look forward to seeing you all again on Wednesday the 27th January.

05.01.2022 The 'seniors' have been using health messages that we see around us in the community to find information to keep both ourselves and others safe. One message comes in the form of the First Aid Poster.. all people in the community can be aware of the first three letters in the First Aid message - DRS ( check for danger, check the response and send for help) . A lot of questions were asked and responses practiced as we investigated this part of the First Aid Message.

04.01.2022 In Shared Reading 4,5,6C have been listening to and doing lots of fun activities around our book 'Alpacas with Maracas' by Matt Cosgrove. We have been doing a lot of exciting activities such as writing about the story and the characters, dressing up and retelling the story and making masks and artworks about our book.

04.01.2022 This term, Junior school has been exploring 'where and why' cultures from around our world using dance and music. So far this term, 1/2/3 and 2/3A have had a lot of fun exploring Vietnamese, Fijian and Mexican cultures. We are discovering that while we dance for fun, the different cultures dance for many reasons- for work, for visitors, to celebrate, for festivals and more.

03.01.2022 Wishing our Special School Dad's, Grand Dad's and Step Dad's a wonderful Father's Day for today.

01.01.2022 Wishing all our families and carers a Merry Christmas
