22.01.2022 News from the Thursday Ladies .............................. We may not be back on the courts playing squash yet, but now that the restrictions have lifted somewhat, we were able to get together for lunch and a catch-up recently at Coffee on Bourbong. It was so good to hear how everyone has been coping with everything during isolation. Nat’s experience of home schooling was certainly interesting and it could be said that she was very happy when the kids were allowed back to school. It would appear that most of us ate a little more than usual during this period and are anxious to get back on the courts to work it all off. Thank you to the staff of Coffee on Bourbong for looking after us. Cheers Jan

Kellie Chanoff v Susan Woods Kellie has shown such enthusiasm since returning to squash and is improving with each match. Kellie and Susan were evenly matched, but Kellie’s speed around the court got her across the line to win in 4 tough games. Petrina Chantler v Coral Stewart Petrina has constantly battled with Coral and managed to score a game but has been unable to beat Coral who has confounded Petrina with her amazing lob serve. It was an exciting match with the lead changing from game to game. Petrina has shown great improvement especially with her serve and with sheer determination, won a hard fought match in 5 games. I think that both Kellie and Petrina are still celebrating. Great squash ladies. Cheers.Jan

18.01.2022 Thursday Ladies Update ...... It was lovely to see the ladies back after the long break due to the Covid-19 isolation. Our numbers were down but hopefully will pick up again when the weather warms up and the Covid-19 restrictions are completely lifted. 10.01.2022 Thursday Ladies Squash Christmas Dinner 2020 2020 has been a difficult year for everyone, but we managed to keep players on the court once the initial Covid restrictions were lifted. What better way to celebrate than with a Christmas dinner last night held at the Old Bundy Tavern. Thank you to our President Natalie Heironymus for organizing us throughout the year and setting up our celebratory dinner. The food was good, the drinks flowed freely and the company was wonderful. Congratulations to Tiaan Weller who received the Pam Donnelly Encouragement Award and to Donna Bentlin who was awarded Club Member of the Year. Cheers .. Jan

08.01.2022 Thursday Ladies Squash Report . Results of games played 22.10.2020 Shirley Gough 1-3-75 d Kathy McCloskey 0-2-62 Shelley Dunne 1-3-52 d Jan Glanfield 0-1-45 Natalie Heironymus 1-3-45 d Donna Bentlin 0-1-29... Shirley took advantage of Kathy’s slow start to take the first two games 15-8 and 15-10. Kathy fought hard to win the next two with the scores close at 16-14 and 18-16. Shirley’s speed around the court and determination took her to a win in the last game and the match. Enjoyable to watch with a display of great sportsmanship. Petrina Chantler showed that she is improving with each game and played well to take a game off Kaye Armstrong. See you Thursday. Cheers..Jan

08.01.2022 MASCOT LADIES SQUASH RESULTS OF GAMES PLAYED 30.7.20 Shelley Dunne 1-3-57 d Shirley Gough 0-1-43 Tiaan Weller 1-3-45 d Anna Maloury 0-0-19 Coral Stewart 1-3-57 d Petrina Chantler 0-1-46... Jan Glanfield 1-3-61 d Sandra Killer 0-1-50 Donna Bentlin (R) 1-3-47 d Natalie Heironymus 0-1-47 The cold weather did not deter our ladies from playing some exciting squash once the ball (and the players) warmed up. Once again Tiaan Weller produced a strong game to win over Anna Maloury in three convincing games. Tiaan is proving that she is getting stronger each week. Petrina Chantler's enthusiasm for the game is infectious and it is great to see her improving with each match that she plays. Coral Stewart was too strong for her, but Petrina was always in the match, winning one game and was closely matched in the other three. Cheers.....Jan

07.01.2022 World Squash Day, Bundaberg Squash Club Open Day!

06.01.2022 Thursday Ladies Squash Report .. RESULTS OF GAMES PLAYED 6.8.2020 Sandra Killer 1-3-65 d Shelley Dunne 0-2-52 Natalie Heironymus 1-3-67 d Tiaan Weller 0-2-60... Both ladies played hard, fast squash with a solid start from Tiaan to take the first two games. Natalie’s strong serving got her back in the match and she levelled the score at two games each. The last game went point for point with both ladies exhausted but determined to win. The final game went to Natalie 16-14. This was a very entertaining match and played with great sportsmanship. Cheers.Jan

06.01.2022 Thursday Ladies Update .. MATCHES OF THE DAY All the matches played were great to watch, but the two I have picked were outstanding because both matches consisted of great skill with the shots played and speed around the court. Marietta McLellan defeated Shirley Gough in five very close games. As usual Marietta came out firing to win the first two games. The third game was a beauty with Shirl winning it 19-17. Shirl was on a roll and went on to win the next game ...in a very close 15-13. Marietta can never be counted out though and went on to take victory with a win in the final game. The match between Gaby Heironymus and Donna Bentlin provided great entertainment with the lead changing with each game. Gaby started strong to take the first game 15-11, but Donna fought back to take the next three and the match in 4 games. Gaby is showing that she still has what it takes after not playing regularly for some time and Donna is proving that her fitness is improving with each match that she plays. Great work by all players. Cheers..Jan MASCOT LADIES SQUASH CLUB RESULTS OF GAMES PLAYED 20-2-20 Line 1 Sandra Killer 1-3-54 d Kathy McCloskey 0-1-46 Marietta McLellan (R) 1-3-75 d Shirley Gough 0-2-58 Line 2 Kirsty Lennox 1-3-58 d Amie Richardson 0-1-50 Laurel Wenborn 1-3-40 d Anna Maloury 0-0-32 Line 3 Donna Bentlin 1-3-56 d Gaby Heironymus (R) 0-1-50 Tiaan Weller 1-3-47 d Kaye Armstrong 0-0-35 Line 4 Petrina Chantler 1-3-45 d Tina Manners (R) 0-0-20 Filomena Jamieson 1-3-56 d Coral Stewart 0-1-46

03.01.2022 Thursday Ladies Squash Report . Line 1 players Sandra Killer and Shirley Gough produced a great and exciting match with the lead changing from game to game. S...hirley started strong to win the first game 15-6, but Sandra fought hard to win the next two. The fourth game was Shirley’s, but you can never count Sandra out, and true to form, she won the fifth and the match 3-2. Great shots and court coverage throughout the game made it a delight to watch. Also on Line 1, it was a battle of the two oldies as Beryl Boge and Jan Glanfield (me) took to the courts. What an enjoyable match it was with Beryl showing she was just too good for her older opponent and winning in 3 very close games. Great match Bezza. Tiaan Weller is showing she’s got what it takes when it comes to playing squash. What a battle it was between Tiaan and Anna Maloury. Anna started slowly and Tiaan took the first two games with ease. Anna got her act together to take the next two games and it looked like she was heading for a win. Both ladies tried hard in the last game but Tiaan was victorious winning 17-15. Birthday wishes to Natalie Heironymus, Shelley Dunne and Sandra Killer. Very enjoyable Birthday lunch at Water Street Café.
