15.01.2022 We had a conference will the leaders of most German-Swiss-Austrian dance groups in Australia this morning. To ensure that all groups have sufficient time to prepare, practice and raise funds the group leaders have unanimously decided to defer Volkstanzfest in Perth to Easter 2022. We look forward more than ever to the next Volkstanzfest and thank the Edelweiss Group Perth for their work so far.

And just for fun we also learned counting in German, French and Spanish, looked at videos of horse vaulting, and had an introduction to the Japanese martial arts form of Naginata.

06.01.2022 Celebrating Walpurgis tonight, with similar customs across many Nordic European countries for the last night of April. Die Walpurgisnacht ist ein traditionelles nord- und mitteleuropäisches Fest, teilweise mit Feuerbrauch am 30. April. In many places in Europe you would have a bonfire (as per picture), but in 2020 we will be content to isolate with a glass of Glühwein in front of the fireplace instead.

04.01.2022 Were back! Exactly nine weeks and one day after our last visit, we finally returned to Hahndorf with accordions, bells and solo dance performances. All in the spirit of adding German cheers whilst complying with relevant restrictions.
