25.01.2022 Here we go again! First of the spring seeds have been started. Cucumber, carrots, green beans, basil & passionfruit. Tromboncino, pumpkins & snake beans will follow next. Then zucchini’s & capsicums. I love planning the new season in the garden. We are always changing this up & finding new favourites. We are trying a new green bean this year as the kids didn’t like the blue lake variety last year, or the scarlet runners. we get it right this time
25.01.2022 Love watching the cane fires each year. They don’t get any less amazing. They burn so high & so fast. Then its over.
24.01.2022 Roast chicken for dinner tonight. Seasoned with our home grown herbs & lemon.
24.01.2022 Garlic scapes. A bonus treat from the garden this year. We planted so much garlic last year and never got a single scape. This year I just planted a few left over bulbs from last years crop and LOOK! Only 5 tasty little stalks but enough to make me want to plant way more garlic again next year! It was the first time we had tried these and we can now highly recommend them if you get the chance!
23.01.2022 I enjoy letting somethings go to seed. Some of the plants we normally harvest for their leaves have the prettiest flowers. I know the bees are enjoying them
23.01.2022 Bring on spring! Green beans & apple cucumbers are up & smiling. Zucchini’s & snake beans in the pots now. Have you started your spring seeds? @ Gold Coast, Queensland
23.01.2022 300+mm overnight & yesterday with steady rain today & more heavy falls predicted tonight. It’s very wet and soggy but some of the water has subsided... will be interesting to see what it’s like tomorrow! So glad we are up high.

19.01.2022 The neighbours horses are making themselves at home. These two are friendly & get right in your face if you let them Charlie isn’t really sure what to do with them. They won’t run away like the cows, they just sniff at him & ignore him no matter how much barks & runs like a nutter.
17.01.2022 It’s a crazy neglected jungle out there at the moment but there are still pockets of beauty if you look for them.
16.01.2022 I thought these rocket flowers were ugly until I got up close. Such pretty detail.
15.01.2022 Time to reclaim the garden! Still plenty of good stuff to harvest for dinner hidden amongst the nasturtiums. @ Bungalora
13.01.2022 Charlie making sure the cows stay where they are meant to.
13.01.2022 Can’t argue the flood waters only add to the impressive beauty of this view... until you factor in the cost of them and the frustration & devastation they bring to so many
12.01.2022 Nothing better than fresh grass!

09.01.2022 I love the way the chickens plant their own food. They might not like the grain but they do love the grass. And I love the orange yolks!

04.01.2022 You know what I love? Swapping goodies . Today we swapped some of our eggs & rosella jam for some passion fruit jam and pecans with a friend. We also made a deal to swap some of our chickens for some honey. . We’re heading to my parents this week and for sure we’ll be swapping some rosella jam & passionfruit cordial for homemade soap. . Do you swap goodies?

What is happening: The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted possible flooding for the Tweed River at South Murwillumbah, the Tweed River at Tumbulgum and surrounding areas. As a result, businesses, residents and visitors to these areas should TAKE ACTION NOW to prepare for possible flood impacts. NSW SES is advising residents in low lying areas of the following locations that they may need to evacuate due to rising flood water. These areas include: Low lying areas of South Murwillumbah residential and industrial estates Greenhills Caravan Park Residential and business areas bounded by the Tweed River, the railway line, Alma Street and the southern end of Wardrop Street and Railway Street Tweed Valley Way between Mistral Road and Rose Lane Tumbulgum and surrounding areas Low lying properties may experience impacts due to flash flooding and/or riverine flooding. Storm and flood impacts may interrupt essential services such as electricity, phones, internet, water and sewerage. People in these areas need to closely monitor weather and road closures and make informed decisions early based on individual circumstances. Residents should monitor the situation as it is changing rapidly and be prepared to evacuate when instructed to do so. A Flood Evacuation Order will be issued by the NSW SES if and when evacuations are required. If you are leaving early: Wherever possible, people should go and stay with family or friends, or make other accommodation arrangements What we are expecting: Once floodwater begins inundating the area, road access may be cut.
